Post-Game Talk: Habs Lose in Shootout

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I cringe to think what the score would have been if Dobes would have been in nets last night. As it was, the Avalanche hit the goal post and crossbar 3 times.

With only 13 games to go, there are no throw away games. And Montembeault gives us the best chance to have those games against Ottawa and the Islanders remain: "4 point games".
With all due respect.......do you think the habs should ride Monty to the end of the year without a game off??
That may have been our process with Price, but Monty has been less than average the last few games, and looks like he needs a little time off..........a game off would not hurt him at all, just my 2 cents.

i keep thinking of his 840 sv % vs the Isles was a glaring clue.

My problem is that I have little faith in Dobes who I find to be clumsy and with little technique. His clumsiness is best exemplified in his difficulty in catching and freezing the puck with his glove hand. Dobes reminds me of Steve Penny, another clumsy goalie, xx who had his 15 minutes of fame in the 1983-84 playoffs for the Canadiens and then was out of the NHL a few years later.

As we have no margin for error, I would prefer a tired Montembeault to a rested but technique challenged Dobes.

Guy Larose is always complaining about the complainers. He gives weight to the ol' psychology adage that humans need 5 positives to compensate for a single negative.
And the complainers and negative people that feel triggered always have this comeback because they're butthurt and have nothing else to retort but this.

I rarely complain about the team so your whole "always have this comeback" doesn't pass the smell test.

You constantly complain about complaining, in effect becoming what you profess to hate. In essence, pot, meet the kettle.

Dobes has made many good glove saves, I'm not sure where you're getting that part from.

But aside from that I think he actually reminds me of a young Price, who had to learn that economy of movement is better than purely leaning into athleticism. Dobes has shown good technique, but has slipped into making big lateral movements that make him lose the net a bit. I wouldn't call him clumsy or technically challenged.

Now in terms of Monty vs Dobes, if they run with the former I won't be too upset, but I think they are working on getting dobes back to where he started before bringing him in again.

At best, the jury is still out on Dobes but IMO he's more than just a big body

1. Dvorak has great SO stats
2. Will you remember Suzuki and Caufield's failed attempts too?

1. Sample size is small though. He only has 15 SO attempts in career. He's 0 in 6 with us actually.
2. Suzuki is not good in SO maybe we should try some of the kids. Heineman is 1 for 1 i mean give him more attempts to see.

man 13 games left in the season, going to be a long summer. So many of my teams are on the outside looking in this year

Complaining about complaining about complaining would also qualify as pot/kettle, no?

I'm not complaining. Simply stating facts.

If I were complaining, there would be a conotation of complaint, like claiming it's toxic. Which he did and I did not. I didn't make a moral value judgement about it. He did. Maybe don't butt in if you can't make the difference.

And I was simply stating facts that there's a bunch of shitposts even if it's a happy time, and never pointed at one person in particular...but you felt triggered enough and targeted which means a lot.

I suppose your last statement isn't a "complaint" either... That comment is better described as what Defensive? Petty? Childish?

Play with semantics all you want, the post you made was indeed a judgement, one that was hypocritical even as you judged his post to be hypocritical. Which is what I observed, and pointed out.

If you can't understand a post, ignoring it is better than doubling down in failed reasoning.

The volume of ungrounded "observations" that fill the board is what the poster was "complaining" about. Not such a far off assessment given the nature of many Dvorak SO posts in this very thread, or the first 90% of the game thread.

All good observations............that said without rest, I think Monty is about to let us all down.
If Dobes has lost the faith of his coach, then we should have Primeau come up...........
If Price was our goalie right now, they would not ask him to play the last 20 games in a row.......and he certainly could more so than Monty.

We can agree to disagree......no worries.

Dobes should have got this start.. but since he didn't, you gotta give him the Blues, as Monty delivered another weak performance and Dobes came to NA and lives in Missouri in the offseason. This is as close to a 'home start' as he will get.

Didn't watch the game but saw the highlights. You can't give up 2 weak goals to start the game, and have a 0.823 save % and going down 3-0 after 17 shots and think you can compete in this league.

Good on the players for making up for the lack of goaltending which they have been doing lately, but that won't get them far unfortunately.

They were completely dominated in the first, did not show up whatsoever. Not Monty's best game but he was getting absolutely peppered

Very good for Montreal to earn a point but they were fortunate as Colorado could have buried then in the first they were that dominant and Montreal looked overwhelmed. Colorado is a solid team and to think they rebuilt the team during the season with so many moves.

You consider the first two goals as weak? They were great shots.
