Nobody here seems to want to look at the amount of time he's missed with his back issues since the covid finals.

He's damaged, and the habs would be lucky to get something of value for him at this point.
He’s been logging in on the average, over 21 minutes per game since early December — that’s a 22 game span.

Nobody here seems to want to look at the fact that if his back was such an impediment, he wouldn’t be playing all those minutes over such a long stretch of games. He’s not damaged enough to get all that playing time, so I’m not buying that he’s all that damaged.

I just saw the Matheson-Tkachuk fight. Not too bad actually for Matheson.
We knew Matheson could fight. That’s the only edge he’s proven to have over Petry so far.

Every year since he's a regular NHLer Suzuki's got that 12-15 games stretch where he looks completly desinterested, he need to find a way to fix that if he wants to become a 1C in this league.

He's playing these minutes by default. He can play in the sense that he's there, but there's no way he's the same player with that kind of injury. Chronic back pain is career altering, and seeing as he was shelved for most of last season, and couldn't even make it through training camp this year.... The writing is on the wall.

Absent access to his medical records, we have how he’s being deployed as a barometer.

With both Savard and Matheson in the lineup tonight, he logged in the second highest minute total among all Habs D. What default is in effect for him to be playing as much? If his back is such an issue, he shouldn’t be playing as much as he is.

Veteran guys eating minutes is a common phenomenon in the league. Guys with hip and back procedures have a pretty sobering track record in this league regarding the limited players they become.

Vets playing injured on teams vying for a playoff spot, I get it. What are the Habs playing for that justifies Edmundson getting high minute totals as he has since early December? It doesn’t add up.

We ask questions all the time why certain young players are further down in the lineup while certain veteran players continue to keep their minutes.

I can't answer that question, because I often ask the same questions year after year. I have theories in some cases, but thats all they are.

Yes it's true. Comes with maturity , but also a little help.

All I can say is LOL at the people who doubted me for calling out Anderson in the last GDT. Dude literally can't do anything besides skate.

He can score goals.
He has 5 goals in his last 11 games.
Only 3 goals behind Suzuki for 2nd best on the team.

Last fight I think was last season?

"Big" hit was on Pietrangelo and he got 5 for it.

That I found anyways.

He definitely hasn't been as advertised as of late.
Had a couple teeth knocked out as well when Pietrangelo jumped into the altercation and started throwing while Anderson was tied up with someone else. Maybe he's gun shy after that - wouldn't be the first time a "tough guy" got hit in the face and never recovered.

I get people are mad Anderson doesn't fight, but the guy can throw bombs.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's been told by previous and now current management to not going looking for a fight.

Had Gudas obligated, Anderson would have beat his ass.

People have to remember, you fight to establish yourself in the league and then you don't have to anymore.

Yeah we'd like to see it more.
I’m done defending him, he hasn’t done it all year. Management told him to not play his game all season? Makes no sense.

Good point. Pietrangelo’s teammates intervened quickly and handcuffed him before any Habs players could neutralize them. It happened rather fast as he was defenseless and vulnerable.

League determined that his hit on Pietrangelo was predatory, however, him being tied up while Pietrangelo fed him and popped several front teeth, was not deemed excessive.

Bringing the blue jersey after two wins really illustrates the don't win too much mentality we got going on

I will say this - to me it's pretty inexcusable that you're a veteran tough guy in this league, with huge size, with tons of fighting majors, playing in a lost season, getting run out of your own rink in a blowout game by some cheapshot artists... And you decide that you're not going to get involved physically, but you're willing to let your (arguably) number one defenseman fight Tkachuk, and a rookie (albeit a very tough one) fight?

And when I say "not get involved physically," I mean just that.... ZERO HITS between Edmundson and Anderson combined, with 18:43 and 17:42 in ice time respectively. ZERO. HITS.

Nick Suzuki had 2 hits. All 5'9 of Rafael Harvey-Pinard had 3. Anderson and Edmundson had ZERO.

Five from two small guys. Zero from our tough guys.

We know Eddie and Andy can drop the gloves, but to completely disappear and give the appearance of disinterest while your team is getting run over????

Inexcusable. They deserve all the criticism they get. They left their team out to dry when the rest of them were battling. Take the A off of Edmundson and give it to Xhekaj, at least he shows up every day and cares.

Not frustrated with the loss as I am with the lack of veteran leadership.
This has been a frequent theme and I don’t like it. Pacioretty quit trying in his last year with us, Domi had zero emotion all year in his 2nd year, Petry watching teammates get run over and not doing anything about it, Anderson no longer being physical and backing up his teammates. Something’s gotta give.

I like Suzuki but Caufield should have been the one going.

Plus the vote was rigged, Caufield and Stutzle had the most votes but neither was chosen to go.
I don't really tbh... ASG is so lame I don't know how anyone can actually justify spending any time watching it. Was just looking for something else to bitch about.

Gudas trying to knee Dach or smallish players but hide from Xhakej...
Tkachuk willing to drop only with Mathesson,
idk, seems like a bitch club to me those Panthers.

Edmundson not doing anything
Anderson not going after Gudas after he tried to injure Dach twice in a shift

Trade deadline can't come soon enough.

Oh almost forgot, Ekblad inviting Harris to drop gloves but no one else LOL

Next time we take them all out. Send the Laval team to replace all the habs players suspended, both team will sink, good for us , f*** them

Except of Edmunson and Anderson i guess

Pacioretty and Petry wanted out because they didn’t want to be stuck on bottom feeders. Anderson looks to be doing the same. Can’t remember Domi’s situation but I think it had to do something with contract extension negotiations not going well? Gallagjer was pouting and would’ve been gone if it wasn’t for his albatross contract. I think the common theme is some vets are harder to keep motivated when the going gets tough. Even Price looked fed up over stretches of time over the last 5 years before he was hurt. Hopefully this rebuild cleanses this franchise completely.
