Pls stop with Slafkovsky hyper in depth analysis. Just let the kid play….

Mesar, Guhle, Slafkovsky, Barron and Xhekaj all in AHL to start. I wasn’t sure if Mesar should go to OHL or AHL , but I think it’s pretty clear he’s ready for AHL imo

As for Hoffman, this guy is awful. Can’t wait until he’s off this team.

I really liked Dach's game. He makes good quick decisions, can transition / skate the puck and his long reach and puck protection is good. He even threw a hit with some intent behind it. Drew a penalty with his skating.

Needs a lot of work on faceoffs.

We will wait. But I was always on the fence with Barron. At the draft. And to this day. I just feel like it's a guy who has absolutely no definite role and flavour.
Barron reminds me of Kulak , not in a disrespectful way or anything he will prob end up a bit better or similar imo

Disagree, he is a physical beast and a monster already, only thing Im not sure at this point is if he has enough stamina to play at a such pace for 60 mins game after game, the rest is NHL ready.

He starts strong, but was a bit a bit less energetic in the 3rd.
Yes he’s fairly strong but he’s not a man yet. He was falling down and pushed around quite a bit tonight. He didn’t dominate physically as he can’t yet.

Regarding Slafkovsky: One preseason game so far... give him time to adapt to the smaller ice and NHL speed. You can't draw a conclusion about whether he should be in the NHL or AHL at this point in time. Still lots of preseason games left.

Maybe in terms of mobility but that's all, personally he doesn't remind me of Kulak at all. Kulak is a consistent/predictable player, to me Barron doesn't process and execute the most straightforward play 1st. That just makes its extremely hard for everyone playing around him. Sure he has tools but if you don't use those tools well they could end up hindering you.

Slaf looked fine, move on.

Could Dach be a good winger? Face-offs are a killer of momentum.

The only two times I saw him and liked his game were on the wing with a Team Canada jersey on. He needs to add some mass as well.

Slaf - Suzuki - Dach could be our shutdown line in a few years.

Is it just me, or does it always end bad whenever Slaf tries to dangle/get around defenders?

During this game and the 2 rookie games it seemed like as soon as he challenged a defender, the play was bound to die. He looks decent away from the puck and skating with the puck through open ice though.

He was out of position quite badly on more than one occasion. I think he's a player that will need time to adapt.

I disagree.

In fact I can remember a few specific times in the scrimmages where his drive into the zone was stopped by a defender, but the chaos caused by his speed and reach opened up chances for his teammates.

Don't think Slafkovsky's game really matches Dachs to be honest.

Slaf slows the game down and waits for opportunity

Dach is the Big wrecking ball that causes chaos.

Beck or Suzuki would be a better match for him I think.

I can't wait to see what Beck can do in the OHL this season. His defensive instincts are off the chart. I would like to see him focus on offense this season. Flat out produce.

Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield seems like a no-brainer

I see Dach with Gallagher.

Barron and Norlinder have to find a second gear. They seem to always be at the same speed (reaction speed, not pure speed). They need to develop more urgency and assetiveness in their game. Hopefully they improve on that as camp advances. Norlinder definately needs more seasoning in the AHL. I'll reserve judgement on Barron at the end of camp.
