Ahh yes. I've seen the Karen's complain on Twitter too. Imagine going to a preseason game, and not expecting a preseason roster? There are rosters like this every year, at some point. I agree though, the ticket prices are not worth the roster that will be iced, but then I'm not naive to think this what couldn't happen in preseason.
I feel bad for the nice Karen’s out there.
Besides, is this B squad any worse than an expansion or a bottom 5 team?

Of course there are, road games present a terrific opportunity for rosters like this.
IMO one of 34 or 16 must be in a home pre-season lineup as these are the types of games that are the only opportunity a lot of fans have to see a live game.

Win for Xhekaj, if he takes Douglas off the ice.

Douglas was 60 points in 62 games his last OHL season.
Xhekaj was 34 points in 51 games in his OHL overage year.

I think Douglas can play some hockey, don't know about Xhekaj yet.

Douglas is a centre and Xhekaj is a defensemen, so I'm not sure simply looking at their points proves anything about their respective values.

I'd say it's more important to see how the roster shakes out before opening night. Give the players trying to make the roster an opportunity. Plus it's better than Matthews/Marner play together to continue chemistry, no need to worry about the fans feelings.

Yea, why start now?

McMann is a gem and looks like he'll get a shot tonight. He works his butt off and plays a good hard nosed game. I hope he impresses.

Crazy that he was in the ECHL this time last year.

Being waiver exempt I don't his odds out of camp. But I do like that it leaves him as a potentially great depth option

Oh he's definitely not making the team at all. I don't even know if he's every day NHL quality, but I do think he'll be a good AAAA option this year at the very least.

I actually enjoy watching the young guys play. Both line-ups are full of them tonight. Thought the Nylander, Malgin & Holmberg line was really good against Ottawa. Glad they kept them together. First look at Murray. Will be watching with one eye open.

To whomever is mentioning Douglas in this thread:

You're going to be disappointed. Yes he's really tall, but he's no Colton Orr. He can play the game pretty well.

He was impressive last year in training camp. He's continued to impress so far this year as well. He's not just a face puncher, the guy can play hockey. Oh and hopefully your smaller wingers keep their heads up. The guy can hit too.

Unironically, this will happen.
I legit was gonna say as much as we can joke and poke fun of this...After samsonov's game previously...this game will be like. YEP I TOLD YOU either way good or bad

Man, what a dog shit lineup. I'm guessing we'll see many cuts after this one.
I was gonna watch for murray and then I saw the lineupand im like...am i really this desperate for hockey lmao

Babcock disagrees... Remember when he dressed the AHL lineup in front of home fans and then played the real roster on the road the last 2 pre-season games? And people had paid hundreds for tickets. Then the media asked him about it and he was like 'we're trying to win games here' as if it really mattered if he swapped rosters to throw the fanbase a bone

I just want two things:

Matt Murray to look sharp but more importantly for Nick Robertson to do SOMETHING

Robertson will do something alright.. He'll skate really hard in a straight line to the puck over and over again but not much else

That's good to hear.

Small guys know enough to keep their heads up or they wouldn't be there.

Looking forward to seeing Murray. Has a decent defense in front of him. Will be interesting to see Gio reunited with Brodie. Also another look at Malgin with Nylander. Hope Robertson relaxes and just plays his game.
