Sandin is also waiver exempt technically and I think Lily has easily outplayed Sandin to earn a roster spot over him

I don't know if I just suck with player evaluation, or maybe I just have some bias, but Liljegren honestly has looked better than every defenseman besides Muzzin and Brodie this preseason. Obviously Rielly is better, and Holl is more proven, but for years now, I just don't get why management clearly thinks Sandin >>>>> Liljegren.

Like take that play. Liljegren is clearly not as fast as the Montreal player so he strategically used his body to get in his path, slapped the puck away, it didn't work. Instead of playing conservative he jumped the puck, got it out and had an odd-man breakout start the other way. The little things he does just shows an IQ for the game that a guy like Rielly just doesn't possess.
