Not sure, probably AX, I like LD/RD balance and i’m intrigued by Kovavevic (as I am with AX obviously).

I'd rather not ask AX to play on his offside right now.

Xhekaj was ok but off all the D he was the one least noticeable (and I really like him). Once Eddy or Matheson is back I really think they should send X to the AHL so he can be on the top pair with Barron.

His current progression curve is incredible and he's clearly not just a goon, we should give him a chance to keep developping before burying him behind Matheson/Edmunson/Ghule. We'll need the best possible Arber when we're gonna start competing, he's built for the playoffs.

Man if only we could send dadonov and Hoffman to the moon and play RHP and Heineman.
Dadonov, Hoffman and Drouin are 3 players who are too flawed and bad defensively without the puck for my liking. The turnovers and lackluster effort from Hoffman and Dadonov stood out to me as everyone else was battling hard and playing with pace.

Agreed, of himself, Guhle, and Harris I think he is the least ready. He honestly has the skills/skating to be a top 4 defenseman if he keeps progressing. If we get healthy we have Matheson-Guhle-Harris at least down the left. Send Arber down to work on his positioning and let him unleash his offense a little bit, see what he can do.

Another thing I liked was the montage with players from different eras during the ceremony, I think it's cool that the new management team acknowledges the ex-players we loved especially those from the not so distant past (late '90s early '00s to early '10s) like Koivu, Kovalev, Halak and Cammalleri during the '10 run, etc. Then Zednik in the locker room after the game, it's refreshing.

Fans from my generation grew up with these guys and during Bergevin's tenure it's almost like they did everything in their power to never mention them and make us forget they ever existed.

I thought Harris quietly had a very good game and so did Kovacevic. I think of the 4 news guys on D, Xhekaj needs more development the most. And it's not a knock on him. His progression, as you state, was indeed incredible, but it has to stagnate at some point and he needs to be playing under conditions that will allow him to continue to grow. But again... he was still solid tonight.

Apparently Savard blocked 9 shots... Maybe he can do that... maybe that is ALL that he can do from now on :)

I don't get the Savard hate since last year. He's fine for our rebuild, perfect partner for Ghule this year and he's a drama-less Qc player that does his job. Sure he could lose a few pounds but oh well.

Hoffman and Dadonov, now that's something else.

If Caufield-Suzuki and Monahan-Dach continue like this it will be very difficult to finish bottom 5. I’m afraid however the 3rd and 4th lines don’t match.
Main problem with finishing outside the bottom 12 (higher than 20) will be Allen and Montombeau. I know people love Allen but he's a weak legit number 1 (if you give him 50 games and more). And Montombeau can't be in net for 40 games. This duo can have a good start but I think it will start to show some cracks around december. Also those kids on defense are not used to play 82 NHL games. Gonna be a problem around the 40-50 games mark.

That was so freaking fun! Team will take some lumps this year but there will be excitement.

Arber…pulling for him. Guhle! Happy for Monahan…and MSL…

My weird thought/feeling of the night was ‘I don’t want Allen traded.’

I predict that Allen, who will likely faces close to 40 shots every game, will not last that long and pull something. It's too much to ask of a goalie to face barrage of shots game after game. Brodeur and Price could handle it. Maybe Roy. Not many others goalies can.

Beating the Leafs is always fun no matter what. Suzuki-CC is the best duo we have had up front in forever. Guhle was a beast but big shoutout to Savard who’s looked great since preseason. Caufield is gonna get a fat contract, but hopefully he likes it here and wants to stay instead of going to the US. I’m fine with overpaying for talent instead of overpaying for bottom 6 players.

I don't hate him at all. He is in the wrong role/position. He is 5-6 dman on a decent team. Asking him to play top pair minutes on a bad team results in what you see from him. Same went for Petry who became Habs #1 after Weber went down for good.
