Hoffman
Byron
Armia
Drouin
Allen
Petry
Savard or Edmundson

If Mtl can find a way to unload half of these players, they maybe in good shape for inserting the the young players in the system plus a couple of free agents.

Petry is likely on his way out, otherwise I think these guys are all back next year.

Allen is needed since Price is still an injury risk.

The two veteran D are needed to give the kids vet partners.

Byron should be kept and rented off at the deadline.

Drouin is worthless until he's played and produced.

Armia is massively overpaid for what he brings, at best we get an equally bad deal in return.

Hoffman.... there's a reason he went unsigned for so long.

Think you’ll get a decent return for petry this offseason. Edmundson also if you move him.
Everyone else don’t think so much.

Trade Hoffman for a late pick
Keep Byron until TDL and try and get a late pick or let him expire
Armia, maybe retain if you can have value for him
Keep Drouin until TDL and try and get a late pick or let him expire
Keep Allen, see how Price situation resolves, can't trade him if Price isn't back
Petry, maybe retain if you can have value for him
Keep Savard and Edmundson, specially if you trade Petry

This is most likely what is going to happen. No need to rush out players. Some will have better value at the TDL. We also need to keep at least 2 veteran at D and Savard and Edmundson are the two winners, imo

I don't think Montreal's farm is ready for that kind of exodus, unless you are planning on having a huge off season for signing UFAs.

I don't think Montreal is in any rush to move Byron or Drouin, their contracts expire after next season. I don't think Montreal wants to move Allen or Edmundson at all (and probably don't want to move Savard). Petry will likely be moved if the right deal is there because he wants to go to the states. Hoffman and Armia? Move them if you can, but I doubt it happens now.

I know, but then again why stick to vets who doN't do shiot vs giv kids like Ylonen etc... a chance in our top 6

I see your reasoning, but getting massacred isn't fun either, and I think you want some pros around the kids. If it's the difference between a 5th-7th, I think you just roll with it and see what the TDL brings.

Every one of those players is negative value outside of the two defenders and Allen. Don’t think you’ll trade any of them except Petry. And you’ll take back a bad contract for him that adds to this list.

Agreed, but guys like Hoffman, Drouin are not the type of vets I'd want sticking around with my kids.

Byron I'd keep for the sole purpose of mentorring and due to his leader capacities, but bad apples be bad apples

Hoffman, Drouin, Petry and Savard, OUT!

That would be awesome!

Sign a vet PMD ala Letang

Pull a couple trades to fill #1\2 C and and a LW and we good!
Savard is not bad. He's a right D too. Proven mentorship qualities. Unless he wants to be traded we should just keep him

I think the Habs will move Petry and get back some good assets for him. If not they'll keep him and play him.

I have a hard time seeing anyone wanting Hoffman.

Armia I think they can move if they want to but I'd prefer to hang onto him unless a team pays up for him.

Drouin and Byron and Allen maybe they trade at the deadline if they're healthy.

I doubt they trade Savard or Edmundson. Maybe though who knows. I would think they might move guys like Anderson and/or Dvorak, because they'll have lots of takers for those two.

That's not really how a rebuild/retool works. Teams don't immediately get rid of anybody over 26. There's still a need for leadership, locker room guys, etc.

That being said, I'd love to see Petry, Drouin and Hoffman gone. Literally offer them to all 31, sweeten the pot as much as possible and take the best offer regardless of what it is.

To me they've all proven that they don't mesh with a rebuilding franchise, not willing to adapt or change to new coaching, new systems. And quite frankly, come across as extremely selfish at times. No need for that dynamic with a new younger dressing room.

Guys like Edmundson, Gallagher, Byron? I hope we keep them. Excellent role models, and given the right role, can still be valuable and contribute.

I don't get the rush to get rid of all of these guys.

Petry wants out; fine.

Savard and Edmundson are staying.

Byron and Drouin have 1 season left on their respective contracts; we don't need the cap reliefnext year anyway, so let their contracts expire.

Hoffman is trickier. He has 2 more years on his contract and he's moved around enough that everyone knows nobody wants him on their team. We're probably stuck with him for those 2 years. It's not too bad either as we should be aiming for the playoffs in 3 years imo.

Armia and Gallagher, we're 100% stuck with. I don't mind Armia as much as other people around here either. Until the cap considerably increases, Gallagher will be a rock in our shoe though.

I think we should keep Edmundson, Savard and Byron - mostly because we need some vets and leadership. I keep Allen until we know if Price is back to normal.

I think Petry gets a positive return. I am open to trading the rest on your list. I would also put Gallagher on this list. He has had a slight bounce in his play, but he costs a lot for what he provides (points or leadership wise)

Pretty sure Hughes has offered Hoffman leaguewide for free, guy is the definition of useless.
