Was Pitlick hiding on the bench tonight? Had no idea he was playing until he showed up during the SO.

I expected there to be at least one 5-6 game losing streak for the Habs at this point this season but nope.
Yeah, him and Pezzetta got no ice time. 5 minutes each.

Evans had one of his best games of the year tonight.. played 22 minutes.

If Kirby Dach shoot more in game, he is going to be a star player. He is already a amazing playmaker, but his shootout goal show that he can shoot. Like Slafkovsky mom said... SHOOT MORE!!!!

We had that happen to a guy at a year-end hockey party at a cabin 14 km from town. One of our guys got drunk and left the group and walked till he saw a parked car that was 2 km's down the mountain, the car wasn't locked so he got inside and passed out. 4 hours later he woke up and walked back to the top of the hill and we had already left lol. We totally forgot about him. That dude ended up walking the whole 14 km back home, true story lol. He didn't call his wife to come to get him because he didn't want to get in trouble, he got home at 6 am.
Bet he still got in trouble!

15:22 of ice time for Slaf, which is a career high

Progression is tracking very well and his opportunity is increasing. I like what I see. Slaf and Anderson played well together last night.

Bet he still got in trouble!

Hen nest theory... Wife wants everyone in the nest and if your not in the nest.... where are you and when are you going to be in the nest?

Finding the right C and we are off to the races.............Slaf gets points, and Anderson brings us back a haul at the deadline.

Besides Slaf...............was there an official release on CC's health from that collision?

I have not heard anything yet. The good news is Caufield seen it coming last moment so this can prepare you more than a hit that you don't see coming at all. Those can cause more damage.

Look more like he got his bell rung vs a major concussion to me. Basically got stopped in his tracks and then hit his head a bit on the ice.

I think they play precaution on this and it would be smart to rest him a game or two IMO.

I'm kind of liking this potential... for now anyways. We will see how long Caufield and Monahan are out. Very impressed the Habs got the W last night.

Caufield / Suzuki / Dach
Slaf / Monahan / Anderson

Slaf with a center like Bedard? I can only imagine

Hoffman was at the point earlier, i like Dach there better lol
We all do. Dach has better vision and better hands he will make mistakes but I'd live with them as he grows into the position. But the one guy I would love to give an extended look at back there would be Guhle. His playmaking ability is totally underated and neglected on this team. He's one of the few guys we have that can carry the puck through a wall. With his speed his reach and his pasing abilities he's the guy I'd like to see moving the play up the ice. He will give us better zone entry options which should equate to better control to establish a base on the PP. Watching the PP's last evening two players weren't the problem Dach and Suzuki. The others aside from CC were like christmas ornaments they hang around trying to look pretty.

I would really be curious to see Slaf man the point and cycle with Suzuki on the right half wall. His passes are so hard and precise that it could give CC and/or Suzuki that extra time they need to get a cleaner shot on a clearer lane. Dach could still be a great goal line passer/net front presence cause of his passing ability, size, and hands

Yeah, I'm of the opinion Dach should be down by goalline. He's more willing to make his own scoring plays when he's down there. He's not a perimeter shooter like at all, so there's no sense having him so far from net.

We need a bumper. Right now all the puck moving/shots, etc are from the top of diamond only. Suzuki, Caufield, point - that's it.

There's zero downlow/slot plays, which is where the majority of goals come from on PPs. If you watch top PPs, they're getting 10 foot goals, backdoor goals, etc.

I'd give Dach the goalline/ back of net spot. Slafkovsky bumper. Suzuki/Caufield circles. Then Guhle point.

Slafkovsky & Dach would switch out on backdoor/net front depending on where the puck is. Suzuki and Slafkovsky could also switch positions.

We need way more movement on the PP.

Absolutely agree on Guhlie.....................I know what the habs are doing, but it kills me to see vets like Hoffman, on the PP and Guhlie on the bench....

Armia is giving me 2011-12 Gomez vibes with his lack of scoring

Frustrating to watch. He has more to offer no doubt but just can't seem to get a goal. Confidence is likely low.

A contract we have during our Transition years. Skating is not the best and I think if we go for size again, target guys that can skate.

While I think Guhle could do it, this is where we need a pp specialist like Lane Hutson if he can make it defensively on a bottom pair.

I just watched a bunch of highlights on YT and it seems like in every one hrudey was dumping on the Habs and taking the flames side with every take. Or is it just me?
Hrudy claiming the hit on Caufield was accidental should tell you all you need to know.

We don't have Lane Hutson and until we do I don't see the point in speculating about him. Probably just me though.

I think this a long season for Guhle.

61 games in 21/22 (including a 19 game playoff) and then coming into the NHL at age 20 and playing 20+ min a game. A 20 year old playing top 4 minutes and with a lot of usage? That's rare. He's doing very well but I would avoid 23-25 min a game at this stage. If he gets PP, do we take him off the PK?

So what does he look tired. I mentioned this earlier in the season when Harris was being sat down. I would hope they do the same with Guhle if and when he shows signs of fatigue. The thing that PISSES ME OFF is he's the one guy doing everything they ask for and more. How can you be the go to Dman 3v3 and yet not get any reps 4v3 it's mind boggling.

Glad our 1OA beasted, still wish they didn't win.
Learning to win is as important to a team’s successful rebuild as securing a higher draft position. After 30 games, it is becoming clear, while we are not quite a playoff team, this team has enough talent that will prevent it from drafting in the top five. In my view, this supposed failure ‘to tank’ is no tragedy. When one considers: the surprisingly effectiveness of our core young players who are already playing; the talent that is coming; that we have 5 first round draft choices in the three years; that as we approach the trade deadline we will almost certainly secure more draft capital; and that many non-productive larger salaries are expiring (or will be traded) providing us with valuable cap space, one can well say that our rebuild is progressing well. Establishing a winning culture, or at least determining which of our players have that capacity to achieve this mindset is as important, if not more so, than drafting a few rungs higher. The culture of winning is not a switch that can be turned on and off. It has to be be built. No differently than building the constituent elements of the team’s roster.

The answer to your question might be to attend practice and see what they are tinkering with. It's probable that they want to build Guhle from the back end out and right now, they need his 20 min in other areas.

I'm only trying to see what they see :dunno:

I agree. Guhle will be an elite defenceman in this league. But I thought last night was one of his weaker games. He made several wrong reads; committed a number of turnovers in the defensive zone and fell awkwardly on several occasions. Once Savard and Matheson return, the team’s reliance on this excellent young player will be reduced, which slightly lesser role will onlly enhance his long term development.

What an embarrasing win.
powerplay completely useless
Burrows is stupid as ever
Martin St-Louis can't coach.
Slafkovski less icetime than Armia and all the other vets
Caufield is injured
That 4v3 was absolutely pathetic

We won because we had this dumb shootout rule to save our ass.
Because I know you & many of your “tank confrères” are waiting w abated breath….. playoff watch:

Habs are 4-pts out of wild card spot w 1-game in hand on NYI

Just win baby!!

Game thread was a hoot. People. Complaining left and right. Not watching the game, I would have thought it was 0-4. It was 1-1!!! 😂🤣🤣🤣😂

OK, the easy part of the schedule is ending soon.

Plus with tit-cul out for the week or so, the fall is coming. No panic, you tankvoters!
