I was eluding to Harris and xhekaj actually. Barron is a future 7D on this team lol. But Reinbacher, Hutson, Guhle, Struble, mailloux, Matheson for a few years. At least one unfortunately has to go between the two
Most likely to be Harris. Unless he magically transforms into Lindstrom, the writing is on the wall. I wouldn't pencil neither Hutson nor Mailloux though. Got lots of growing pains with the latter. Actually come to think of it, I'd rather Harris over Matheson long term for sure.

Matheson plays more like a winger than he does a D to be honest. Also his weaknesses wouldn't be so exposed at that position. Dude is catastrophic levels of bad on D. But he can skate and clearly has hands.

There's no reason why Struble AND Xhekaj can't be on that team, and pigeonholing Struble on the 3rd pair on the longer term may be a bit pessimistic.
It's not really a slight on him, but in my perfect world, Guhle, Hutson are top 4 LD and Reinbacher, Mailloux are top 4 RD. That leaves Struble on the 3rd pair.

Who knows, maybe Hutson or Mailloux's game don't translate as well or are defensive liabilities and end up as a 3rd pairing PP specialist, but that would be very disappointing.

While Chicago was given 22 hits! :biglaugh:

Their stat guy.
I was looking at some stats on NHL.com earlier today and noticed that the Leafs (yes the Leafs) had the most hits/60 at home with 26.45 hits and yet were 29th in the NHL for hits/60 on the road with only 13.12.

Inflating hit totals at home for your Leafs ain't gonna fool anyone into thinking your Leafs play a tough hitting game there Leafs stats guy. :)

Xhekaj must get prepared to play LW on the bottom 6 if he wants to play with the Habs.

That wouldn't be a bad idea cause up and coming quality bottom six guys are not legion. They are either skilled guys that we put them there "for the time being" or old guys that have jumped from teams to teams a la Bellsille.

Great to see them continue to come back, play heavy, hold the lead and close it out.

Slaf was fantastic. Well deserved 2pts for him

Someone in the GDT said that the Hawks feed mentioned that they noticed something different with Caufield's shot this year. Did they elaborate anymore on that subject for anyone who was watching the Hawks feed?

I think Struble did play RD at North Western so he does have experience.
He played some in Laval last season. There were a couple of plays last evening where he was playing inverted as we tend to do. He was very strong breaking up a couple of plays with ease. Harris was getting beat easily along the boards when he played there and Xhekaj has never looked comfortable there. I doubt we see it though as long as Kovacevic remains relatively stable and there are no more injuries.

Just saw the highlights of tonight's game. primeau's glove hand still looks suspect.

They noticed he didn’t have the jump nor the power that he usually showed. They didn’t seem to have any inside info.

I honestly thought he'd be a decent defenseman. Who could be a possible trade bait in the near future. It's still early, but I never figured he might possibly have a future in Montreal.
I have been very very high on him for quite some time.
I remember losing it earlier this season when he was our best player on the ice for Laval and our only player with a goal.
We pull the goalie down 2 with more than 5 minutes to go and Struble never saw the ice. :skeptic:

.When he got called up I said "I hope he gets to play and never sees Laval again."
From what I'm hearing there isn't one analyst who sees him getting sent back.

what can we say? team doesn't quit. they've been terrific on the road and slaf is emerging as a power forward who will go to the dirty areas for goals.
Crazy to think but habs goaltending and D is much , much better than an alleged contender like the leafs.
He's also dragging Suzuki with him with his physical play. Nick's last two goals were very similar and scored from the inner slot. He also almost had another one from there as well but was just off the proper angle and couldn't corral the rebound.
