For blustering Adams has done, Quinn actually pretty much earned his NHL spot.

AHL rookie of the year, full AHL year out of junior.

Productive NHL rookie year.

He looked good when he played last year, on a ~55+ pt pace over 27 games.

Quinn has not looked good or been productive this year.

The question is, what can we do and what is best for his long term development at this point.
Conditioning stint. Let him sit for a game or two up here with *insert an injury* get his 5 games in Rochester and hope that potting a bunch of goals clears his head.

In theory there is no reason for Jack Quinn to regress. He came back from injury and had 19 points in 27 games.

He does look tentative out there, he also seems to be shooting the puck at the goalies chest a lot. I feel like sooner or later it will come but we need guys producing now to make the playoffs.

Give him the Ricky Bobby treatment and enclose him in the offensive zone with a cougar and for every corner he picks the cougar gets tranqed, every jersey crest he hits the cougar gets a hGH shot

Quinn has said he feels most comfortable on LW. Thought he had a game there earlier this year where it looked like things started to click but then they shuffled him back to RW. Cozens being a right shot isn't on his forehand on the breakout to utilize that side as easily. Confidence is tied in to some other things but if they can put him on RW for a time, maybe things shift for him. It's the lack of effort that is most troublesome for me.

Some inconsistency is to be expected in young players. I think that's what we've seen in previous years with Quinn.

This year seems different. It's not inconsistency, it's complete collapse. He's not just failing to convert his chances, he's getting beat consistently in all aspects of the game. He seems slow, no explosiveness at all, quick to tire, his hands are fumbly, poor decision making, not strong on pucks, not reading plays well, out of position.

My guess is that he didn't have a good summer of training, maybe due to laziness, or illness, or personal issues. Wasn't prepared to start the season and he knew it, so his confidence was shaken.

If it were me, I'd give him a good chunk of time off (2 weeks, a month) and have him really work on his conditioning, strength, and puck skills. Have him work towards a return date when he can come back and be prepared to play his game.

Some would say we can't afford to do this, but I think he needs a reset or he's going to struggle all year.

If they can find someone willing to give back reasonable value they really have to think about moving him as he is looking more and more like a completely hopeless and broken reclamation project. When the rest of the league catches on it will be too late.

Put him in the press box or trade him. I understand people don't want to trade him because of his potential, but he's fallen. He has one goal in 17 games and that line isn't working. Cozens isn't helping much either. Get a legit top-6 forward.

I think Quinn can be a stud in this league. He has shown a lot, and this is his first adversity (aside from injuries). I still believe he’s an important piece.

But I have no idea what you do with him right now. Doesn’t look like he belongs and clearly struggling. Can’t go for eh AHL. Sticking him in the press box for long period of time isn’t good either.

Not a good situation at all.

The problem is we don't know what's wrong with him. Physical? Mental? Maybe both. Why doesn't a single reporter ask the coach about it, why are they there all the time then? First, Quinn needs to get into the press box, but without knowing the problem, I don't know how to solve it.

Already too late.

If you want an idea what his trade value might have been before the season see the trade for Alexander Holtz.

Unless it was for a similar struggling player or in a bigger deal. I really believed in Quinn's potential and he showed it, but I don't understand what happened to him.

I think it just boils down to recovering from injury and getting his game back. He's lost a lot of time and I'm sure he's not 100% with his skating. I expect he won't look normal until toward the end of the season. Just another reason why KA was stupid to be confident in the top six he rolled out.

He's not recovering from injury yet? Well, we can't just wait a whole season for Quinn to recover from injury.
