Levi is a 7th round pick, doesnt that prove you dont need to spend such high capital to draft good goaltenders?
No it doesn't as Primeau was also a 7th round pick. At one point, you need to aim for a talent and there are some players out there that could be as high as our rank. At one point, goalies do become BPA too. Hrabal, Augustine.....Bjarnason, I'm not sure.

So while you can very much pick an unknown goalie in the 7th round too, you shouldn't base the strengthness of your team on a hail mary....

So now that it's confirmed that Dubé is not on the final roster for France, the Canadiens players/prospects who will be at the Worlds:

- Barron & Montembeault for Canada
- Farrell, Hutson & Tuch for USA
- Armia for Finland
- Dichow for Denmark

I don't know if Czechia and Slovakia have revealed their line-ups, because although there was no indication leading up to it if Dobes and/or Mesar would represent their countries, I do wonder if they end up going.

Do you know if any 2023 draftees play in this tourney ? I just know that Bedard and Michov don't play. And it seems that Carlsson is in (not so sure though). Fantilli, Dvorsky, Smith ?

There are five 2023 draftees playing at this tournament. They are:

Leo Carlsson for Sweden.

Adam Fantilli for Canada.

David Reinbacher for Austria.

Oscar Fisker Molgaard for Denmark.

Petter Vesterheim for Norway.

Dvorsky & Smith aren't playing for their respective countries.

I'm a big fan of Fisker Molgaard and Vesterheim. Make sure you guys check them out.

Curious to see how Hutson does against a beast like Rantanen. Doubt they match him up against Rantanen much but still hope to see it a couple times

However, the biggest test of them all is undoubtedly trying to contain international competition Joel Armia who turns into the Finnish Lindros this time of year. BIG test for Laner

Pretty clear that Armia is a summer player whether its tournies like this or the playoffs. We need to trade him mid-tourney as we know this is when he peaks

The Skoda arm patches on the US jerseys look so bad lol.

It seems like a weird team for Skoda to want to advertise on too, I guess they picked the states since they should go on a deep run.

Hutson made quite a few nice plays under pressure to facilitate defensive zone exits in the first. It's not the stuff most people will notice, but it really goes to show how much he's improved at defending against the forecheck, which is really key with a smaller dman like him. If you can move the puck before they can pin you up against the wall you'll never be in too much trouble.

It’s fun to see a kid like him have actual NHL potential. 30 years ago a defenceman of his stature would just stay in college the full 4 years then maybe head to Europe or just stop playing. It’s nice that the game has evolved and actual talent is rewarded. I can only imagine the types of small talented players that called it quits in the past because no one would give them an opportunity.

You always did have guys like Leech, Lidstrom and Rafalski. They just needed to be way better than average to make it.

Yes of course, but those guys were the best of the best. They are the Hall of Famers of the Hall of Fame. I’m talking guys like Weegar, Spurgeon, Dunn. They won’t make the HOF, but they have nice long careers and will make a lot of money.

Man, I can't believe they called that goaltending interference. Damn.

Eyssimont had a a foot in the crease, and I guess they decided that he made contact with the goalie's stick? That's where the puck went in, but it didn't even look like he touched him.

Oh for sure, a small dman doesn't have to be a 50 points producer to make it anymore.
