RHP should be developed for the middle six. I don't think he's the guy to put with Nick n Cole

I like RHP and Newhook with Dach. I'd put Anderson with Suzuki/Caufield and stick with it for more than 5 games.

I also think MSL is going to try to create stability as much as he can. Slaf with Monahan.

Caufield - Suzuki - Newhook
Slaf - Monahan - Dach
RHP - Dvorak - Anderson
Pezzetta - Evans - Gally
Heinemen, Armia, Hoffman

Matheson - Barron (top RHD is a very weak spot)
Guhle - Savard
Xhekaj - Mailloux
Harris - Kovacevic
Healthy, that line up can compete. No match for the big teams over a season, but at least big enough and talented enough to skate with them. D is still so young…

Would love to see Dach as a CENTER (no? yes? we need at least one big/tall center for crying out loud!).

Slaf/Pinard - Newhook - Gallagher
Pezzetta/Hoffman - Evans - Armia
Dvorak (injured?)
Ylonen

Matheson - Barron
Xhekaj - Kovacevic
Harris

(May 2022)
we still going to end up in the Top 10 in 2024 draft though
I'm hoping for another top 5 pick (overall) for 2024 (ex: two-way tall/big CENTER or BPA), but...hard to tell/predict. It might be tougher this season (ending up with a top 3-5 pick). A top 10 pick looks more likely (as an early prediction).

If we're not making the playoffs I always hope for a top 3-5 pick (only natural, imo).

2025? 2026?: I can't wait 'til we make the playoffs with a Reinbacher, J. Roy, Beck, Mailloux, Hutson, Struble, Mesar, Dobes, Engstrom, etc.

23 man roster with around $8.7M in cap space. I think Wideman plays AHL this year and he would clear waivers. Looks like Laval needs a RD.

I also think we are going to move Hoffman and Pezzetta to waivers before the season starts to get a 22 man roster (with Price on the roster and his cap)... This will allow us to place Price on LTIR after the season starts. Big deal and we can really be in position to help cap hell teams during the season if there is incentive.

Laval looks interesting:
Farrell / Andersson / Roy
Heineman / Maillet / Mesar
Mysak / Simoneau / Ylonen
Condotta / Stephens / Pitlick
Kidney

Beaudin / Mailloux
Struble / Wideman
Norlinder / Keeper

Dobes
Primeau
It's funny, I came up with an almost identical roster...

if you want a top 5 pick , Suzuki and Caufield will need to be missing 75% of the season or it aint happening.

We have more chances with that CGY 1st

Nice. Lets see how close we are to MSL if the roster stays the same in Oct. I really enjoy using that armchair GM tool.

There is potential with this group. Hard to know because we have not seen them healthy for a season and there are so many young guys improving.

Monty is key in net. If he continues with his recent play, he moves the needle a bit.

Other key areas are the young D and guys like Dach, Slaf, Newhook, RHP up front. Then we got the vets who can give more... Anderson, Gallagher, Monahan, Hoffman, Dvorak, Armia.

I always want a top 3-5 pick, if....if our Habs miss the playoffs.
We all want a top 5 pick....vs....a 12th pick or a 15th pick.
(missing the playoffs AND not even getting a top 8-10 is the worst! if we're gonna miss the playoffs..let's hope for another top 3-5 pick! only natural!).

I don't want Suzuki and Caufield to miss any games, but if some or many KEY players (others) are injured long-term and we're getting further and further away from a playoff spot.....I'm praying for another top 3-5 pick (Suzuki and Caufield can't do it all by themselves). I have a feeling it won't happen this season (top 3-5pick)...instead we may be looking at a top 10-12-14 pick (guess-timating). As a hardcore Hab fan...I always want our Habs to make the playoffs, but losing badly in the 1st rnd....or.....barely missing the playoffs (14th or 15th pick).....or....getting a top 3-5 pick as our options...........I prefer another top 3-5 pick for our Habs.....if it were up to me!! But, it's not! I'm thinking this season (after it)...we're getting a top 10-12-14 pick (but we would all prefer a top 3-5 pick obviously). It will be tough to make the playoffs...we're still VERY young and getting younger. (And, I'd feel better entering the playoffs with a Reinbacher, Hutson, Roy, Farrell, Struble, Mailloux, Heineman, Mesar, Dobes, Tuch, etc, etc...have to wait 'til 2024-2025..at least).

Patience is a virtue!!

Cheers!
Go Habs Go!! (win a lot...or....get another top 3-5 pick!! nothing in between!).

P.S.: that Calgary 2025 pick gives me a headache..so complicated!! I'd rather wait for 2025 to see what happens! But, hoping for a star prospect, of course!!

Fun fact: after all the trials of who to put with Suuzki and Caufield, I dont' think we tried Slafkovsky there 5 on 5.

Hopefully we get to see it some time this year.

Josh Anderson would be better there for now, imo (imho).
For obvious reasons (size/height/toughness/Josh "horse-power speed" Anderson), and so no one abuses Suzuki and Caufield...this is VERY important.

Try Slaf there AFTER he has a 4-5 yr (not too expensive) contract...not before! (*joke* maybe not?!). Players score 25 goals now at 20yrs of age and already get greedy by asking for a 6x6 or 7x7 contract right away!!

Plus, Slaf still has some developing to do, imo.

Caufield - Suzuki - Anderson
Pinard/Slaf - Dach/Monahan - Monahan/Dach
Slaf/Pinard - Newhook - Gallagher
Hoffman/Pezzetta - Evans - Armia

Dvorak (injured?)
Ylonen

My vision for the lineup is a little different. But everything will be determined by the chemistry on the ice.

- I liked the chemistry Anderson had with RHP more than he had with Nick and Cole.
- Still hoping for Hoffman for Mantha and see how Mantha does with Nick and Cole.
- Definitely would like size with Nick and Cole, so Newhook and RHP aren't my first choices, but am willing to try
- Dvo's my 1st choice with nick and cole to get his trade value up, and because he has decent size and toughness along the wall - especially for our forward group.
- I prefer a C line of Suzuki, Dach, Monahan. I think Cole, Dvo, RHP, Anderson, Slaf, and Newhook are ready to hold down the 6 top 9 wing spots. Maybe Heineman steps up in Dvo's absence.
- I'd rather not see Hoffman, Gallagher, and Armia in the top 9, though I'm sure we will.

Someone always surprises out of camp, I predict Mailloux might get a stint of a few games to taste the NHL but likely sent back down. RHP seems like a safe bet to be in starting line up, seems like the new gallagher.

I like playing Newhook on left side of Caufield line also. Heinemann I hope makes team also. He had good camp last year

Anderson was playing really well last year once RHP joined the team. I wouldn't separate them and I don't want him playing with Dvo as his center, or any of our offensive wingers for that matter.

Ylonen won't make it through waivers.

IMO he should be on the 23 man roster. Also you currently have 24 names on the roster, though Dvo will start out injured.

I feel the team will want Caufield - Suzuki as one pair, Slafkovksy - Monahan as another, and Dach at center. Everybody else gets shuffled around trying to get the right fit. For Ylonen I think I like him more then MSL does so I wouldn't actually bet on him being in the opening lineup.
I expect Newhook to get a look on the Suzuki- Caufield line too. But then, why not Slafkovsky/RHP - Dach - Monahan?

Looks good, also gives Dach support in the faceoffs when he needs it. Pretty sure Monahan will get opportunities to produce/be showcased
