How many teams send established vets to the American League?

It's just something that doesn't happen!

Some of you should stop with all the Armia/Hoffman/Gallagher to the minors stuff...
It happens all the time.

Some of you should take a look around the league.

Hoffman and Armia are vets. But it's debatable whether they're NHL caliber. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in Europ. Or they may sign for league minimum deals when their current deals are up. But Jonsson just signed a min deal in Pittsburgh - after being sent to the minors by the Devils. It happens to players that aren't in a team's plans.

Throw some names then, it should be easy if it happens all the time apparently.

Simmonds, Ladd, Schneider, James Neal etc... many vets have been sent to the minors.

Hoffman finished fourth in terms of PPG on this team last season for god sake!

Just because you and the majority of the fanbase hate the guy it doesn't make him NON NHL Caliber!

I don't hate him because of his PPG. Many players can put up those PPG and aren't NHLers. Hockey is a 200 foot game.

If Dvorak is eligible for LTIR to start the season, we can go with this...

Price is not on LTIR to start the season and we move him to LTIR after the season starts. This allows us to accrue more cap space during the season which could be a major advantage at the next TDL.

Pitlick, Pezzetta, Wideman on waivers to the AHL

Roy, Farrell, Heineman, Andersson, Mesar start in Laval. Farrell and Heineman are likely the 1st ones to get called up. Will be interesting if several of these guys perform well in pre season games though. Would we waive both Hoffman and Armia? I know most of us say yes to that but not sure management will.

23 man roster with Ylonen on the roster. $2.8M in cap space. We could trade Hoffman at 50% retention if we want too.

This is fair. There is a lot of attacking going on with Armia and Hoffman and Gallagher as well. They are NHL players and Hoffman is a cap space issue, not a NHL player question.

I don't see major issues. We have lots of options we can tinker with. And having guys dominate the AHL before the NHL is a good situation. We have been waiting for this for years and now some fans want to rush them into spots where they throw Armia, Hoffman, Gallagher under the bus.

Why do I see Monahan at center? lol

He can't play center anymore, he's only taking faceoffs and should only take the defensive ones.
Huh.

Did you watch the games last year before he got hurt?

I've said the same thing. I'm pretty sure the ahl has a rule for the amount of vets you can have down there as well.

Yes...I'm not saying he can't do it tactically, he certainly can, but it's also how we're not going to get any value back because he will get hurt if he doesn't play the wing.
I see your perspective...

I hadn't really thought of him being more prone to injury at center versus the wing. But I'll keep an eye out for why that might be.

His injury is more under stress in the faceoff circle where he certainly has much less control over the kind of body contact that requires flexibility. I have a similar injury...

I'm solid until something triggers my body to a situation where the lack of flexibility becomes an injuring factor.

Oh please, Suzuki was atrocious last season...
Suzuki was not atrocious at all considering what was on his plate. He played -3 hockey after Caufield went down while managing to lead the team in scoring.
Played all the tough minutes was over used and still ended up with 66 points. I will agree many of the games were meaningless but he obviously was doing something right.

He is shit team NHL caliber and yet no shit team wants him.
At this point I don't think anyone would bat an eyelash if we placed him on waivers. I truly do not want to see him getting anymore prime icetime.

No one even wants him at 50% retained.

I disagree with the logic that we have to play washed up vets over young players like RHP, Ylonen, and Heineman because if we don't, then in the future ufa's won't want to sign here. No good ufa's want to be an organization that plays washed up vets over youth with potential.

I don't see a role for him that someone else can't fill at this point. The thing with both Gallagher and Armia is we can play them further down the lineup and they can have some effect. I'm really not sure about Hoffman doing anything constructive in our bottom six and he clearly is not a viable top six candidate that movie has run it's course.
