Gaudreau's drop off without Monahan is far less than Monahan's drop off without Gaudreau.

I'm not saying Monahan is a bad player per se, it's that Gaudreau is a much better player and he helps Monahan look better than he would otherwise.

I think Monahan is a 2nd line centre on a good team.

Gaudreau is a 1st liner on every team.

Yeah, you weren't suggesting he's a bad player in anyway at all:

Hall drives the play.

Monahan rides the coat tails of Gaudreau.

Monahan is a 1st line C. No doubt about it. Is he an elite #1C? Probably not, but the kid is 21 years old for crying out load. He's got plenty of time to grow.

I'd rather have Lindholm, didnt have to think very long about it
