Halls been top 10 in scoring twice ..

Hall had a disappointing year this season and its still better than Monahan's career high

This is true in a vacuum . But a C has more value then a W . Also goals wise Monahan has scored more in a season . I try and answer these with out letting the team I would cheer for over any others blind me . Starting a team like Las Vegas I would choose Monahan over Hall . Now if I had my D and C set Hall would be one of the most prized wingers to get just not top 5

Given their positions are of equal value (1C, 1D) and they stack up about the same when compared to others of their position, it's a wash. Value will depend on teams needs for center or defense.

Lindholm but it's closer than people are saying. I'd actually say its really close. Lindholm has shown #1 capability, but Monohan has shown #1 center capability longer. I take Linholm because I think his celing is higher, but its close. If Lindholm played like did in the playoffs for more of last season, than it would be as different as some are saying.

I'd take Monahan over Hall personally. C > W and Monahan puts up more goals then Hall. In fact, apart from one season, Monahan and Hall produce at a similar rate.

Regardless, the EDM deal for Larsson was done out of desperation. I don't think many clubs will be giving that much value to a top 2/3 D.

Hall drives the play.

Monahan rides the coat tails of Gaudreau.

And the experts call McDavid a generational player with zero games under his belt . Not sure your point with this , seems salty . This thread is about Monahan vs Lindholm . I like both the Flames and the Oilers Oilers more but I can easier say Lindholm is worth more . Both are great young players with room to grow but you go with the D if all other things are = . Not that I think they are = . I think Lindholm will become an elite #1D . Monahan will become a great 1C , just not elite

as per McKenzie "a chance to be...", not quite generational just yet

Perry really? No chance, have you seen him lately?

Still gets more goals then Hall. Not to mention that Perry brings a lot in terms of intangibles. I'd still take Perry over Hall right now, but that could change this coming season. Perry's knees are a concern of mine.

Yeah? So? Gaudreau's goal production drops when he's away from Monahan too. Seems to me that Monahan and Gaudreau are just two very good players who like to play with each other and, when apart, aren't playing with as good a players and, thus, don't score as much? Not that much of surprise.

You're not going to convince me that Monahan is terrible and just riding Gaudreau to 30 goals and 30 assist in two separate seasons. Not happening brother. Monahan is legit.

People like to ignore Monahan's rookie season where as a 3rd liner without Gaudreau he put up 22 goals in 75 games. There is no doubt having a great winger increases your stats but to say he is a product of Gaudreau is a mistake.

Depends on team needs it is not like one is so much better then the other that team needs wouldn't matter. For the Ducks I wouldn't trade Lindholm regardless of contract for Monahan and Flames wouldn't trade Monahan for Lindholm all because of the teams needs.

You mean to tell me Monahan scores less when he plays with 4th liners/ex-NHLers like Glencross and Jones, then he does with one of the best offensive players in the game. Total shocker.

He scores less when he plays with lesser players, go figure eh? That doesn't mean Gaudreau is carrying Monahan.

Gaudreau's drop off without Monahan is far less than Monahan's drop off without Gaudreau.

I'm not saying Monahan is a bad player per se, it's that Gaudreau is a much better player and he helps Monahan look better than he would otherwise.

I think Monahan is a 2nd line centre on a good team.

Gaudreau is a 1st liner on every team.
