I was under the impression that Watson was complaining because he wanted to be part of the discussions.

Wasn't Watson at the last meeting? At this stage I'm just thinkinf out loud but it might make more of a difference then not showing up to games or burning jerseys

Because Eugene is holding off until lebreton. If he wants to treat us like shit we need to try and take that away

Please explain why you plan on continuing to help Eugene maintain his stranglehold on this franchise.

Maybe... just maybe there are some reasons unknown for the recent changes. Here are some of my conspiracy theories:

  1. Good time to tear down the team since we cannot compete with the Leafs for a few years
  2. EM does not want to be stuck paying big $$ during the strike, and he wants to make millions more even though he is a billionaire (I am in no way a fan of EM)
  3. Somebody wants to rebuild the team with only his pieces (PD is an egomaniac)
  4. EM wants to get back all the Ottawa people who embarrassed him by not filling the seats for a ECF game
  5. EK is not the man you think he is off the ice. He is in big trouble with the law and had to leave Canada
  6. PD is inexperienced and made a few mistakes but EM thinks he will learn soon or later.
  7. This was all an inside joke, and EK will return for the next season for less than $10M/yr
  8. EK has an addiction to pain killers that makes Lehner take sleeping pills just to forget about EK. (that's poor taste)
  9. New owners don't like Swedes
  10. Good time to tear down the team since we cannot compete with the Leafs for a few years

Ehhh burning jerseys seems a bit silly. We still all care about the team and the players. We just need to find a way to put the hurt on Melnyk specifically.

That's why I'm pushing this mayor idea. Granted I don't know how much power Watson has over the negotiations but if we can take lebreton away we hit that asshole and the nhl somewhere where they will notice, their wallets

I felt the same way. I was bummed but I felt positive in that both players were well past their prime and while could still be useful, we needed more at the time.

This is just next level.
Pretty much.

I was disappointed and somewhat angry with the return we got from Spezza but it's nothing in comparison to how I feel with what we got from Karlsson.

Perhaps it's an accumulation of everything post 2007 that led me to feel over the top. Still can't believe how we went from a respected franchise to a punching bag for the league.

The only constant in all of this is our owner.

Yeah. The city doesn't want to pay for anything... and yet they want to be part of the process.

We'll have to see how much is Watson grandstanding because being against an arena is popular right now (despite the fact this project isn't just an arena).

Alfie and Spezza were declining.

Karlsson probably isn’t.

And we've seen him play without his ability to skate. He can think the game very well to make up for lack of speed. That's the player you're dumping? One of the best players in hockey today who easily has another 5-6 years of greatness at minimum... but who could go another 10 or more at a very high level.

Not really sure what to say. Definitely an exponentially less passionate about this team. I'm not ready to say I'm done forever but, like most, I am certainly not spending money on this team until Melnyk is gone. Could be a while, but hopefully not. I don't really know what I hope for this team in the coming year, a part of me wants the team to just go through the mud and lose the first overall pick so Melnyk and Dorian can be embarrassed but for the fanbase that's not something I can root for. At the same time who wouldn't want the Sens to prove critics wrong and have a respectable season and maybe even push for a wild card spot. But then I can't possibly stand the idea of Melnyk and Dorian looking like they know what they are doing.

I think this is the lowest point for most of us, regardless of what happens with Stone and Duchene. See you guys on the other side.

You arent alone.

Im already knee deep in stress with my mothers battle with cancer.

Ive been on the fence with boycotting a Melnyk owned team for a little while now, and said that I would wait and see what happens with EK before I decide if its worth pulling the plug or not.

I walked into this week with a bit of optimism for the future, and first we got the Boro video, and now this.

So im also personally done until the obvious changes are made up top.

Take care of yourself and your family. Family is #1 for sure.

THe dramarama right now with the Sens isn't good for anyone.

Love you guys and the Sens always, but I need some positivity in my life, and a reason to watch hockey this winter (life **** is piling up).

I'll hopefully be back one day.

Do yourself a favour and watch Erik lead the Sharks to a Cup, and then come back to re-sign a 7 year deal when buddy Alfie swoons him back under new ownership. Here to help!

No way would I ever cheer for the Leafs.

I have my reasons. Being surrounded by them in friends, family, co workers is one.

Knowing the leafs games will be on every where is another. Getting to enjoy hockey with dozens of people (versus being the sole Sens fan) is a nice thought. Cant beat em, join em.

Johnny T, Marner, Kadri, Marleau are good Ontario boys.

I was born in the Sault, and think Dubas is the best thing since sliced bread. Babcock is the best coach. Their resources are unlimited basically, and they are legitimately the best shot at seeing a Canadian team win the cup.

So yeah I suppose not being from Ottawa makes this a bit easier for me. The Habs have always been my #1 enemy, not the leafs.

While I feel a bit of shame now, Im at least going to be enjoying watching hockey for the next XX years until Melnyk dies.

I cant truly invest in another team to be honest. I'll support this team but not financially anymore. I'm moving to New York in a month so will probably follow the ranger a bit more

Yeah people need to take a look around. We've been unwinding salary for almost a decade now. Dany Heatley was traded to start the 2009-2010 season.

Karlsson was a superstar with high hockey IQ and proved he didn't need to skate to have a huge impact on the game. When he's healthy he can skate with the best of them. The opportunity was there for Melnyk and Dorion to show they were serious and they'd keep good players worth money. They chose to trade that player and for a bunch of nobodies and conditional draft picks.

Fair enough you don't want to spend unless you can contend... Karlsson is a the piece you build around to contend. After lying to us for months they say "nope, we're not building around Karlsson and we have no plan". I suspect they weren't actually lying and they were planning to sign Karlsson but they probably bungled the negotiations and Dorion panic traded with pressure from Melnyk (who played a part in the bungling of the negotiations).

I feel like the right move for Ottawa was to rebuild and trade Karlsson. The return was crappy but they backed themselves into a corner with the Karlsson Hoffman ordeal. Didn't Karlsson want out? No GM was going to pay a fair price knowing that all of this was going on. Just like the Hoffman deal. On top o that he is a UFA this summer and they couldn't get a sign and trade. All of thats going to affect his value. Even with Karlsson last year they had a crummy record and I don't think they were going to do much better this season. I think it was the right move.

The only way any of this makes sense.

Either that or the Euge is purposely trying to alienate and enrage the fan base so he can say “look, no one shows up to games, gotta move this grocery store.”

It’s probably the latter - and as someone who watched their NBA, NFL and MLB teams relocate, all I can say is - I love you guys. #family
