I’m kind of surprised we (Canucks) are in on him. I understand the Pittsburgh connection but we already got Lindholm. Are we really going to get the two top rental forwards? At what cost? What about helping the defence instead?

I’m guessing if we got Guentzel they’d re-sign him by giving him a blank cheque for 8 years which is annoying. We don’t need more 30 year olds on long term deals.
They might be interested in him as a pure rental? The Nucks are legit cup contenders this year, there’s a solid argument for going “all in.” Especially since, if they don’t deal for him, Vegas and Edmonton are top Guentzel suitors - you might be not only adding Guentzel yourself, but also preventing a first-or-second-round opponent from adding him.

Get an idea of cap space and focus on other trades. Maybe...MAYBE do some shopping of our own.

This would be funny if this is Vegas tilling dubas to f*** off because of his 24-hour thing
Both teams want to either trade for or move other pieces. Getting the ''big deal'' done early helps open other possibilities for those particular teams. And the dominoes will be in a motion more readily. I agree with that IF true.

Not but I mean he was definitely a blue chip and highly ranked. Better than guys like Raty or Pettersson 2.0 who have been tossed around.
Mmmm...

He was a top ranked prospect in his 16 year old season. There was a reason he dropped to 20th overall.

It turned out he had been vacuuming up points by playing with Radulov who was a man among boys. When Radulov left, Esposito turned back into a pumpkin. He also had a bunch recurring injuries.

So the bloom was off the rose at that point. I'm not saying he was a throw in, he was still a 'prospect' but this wasn't anything close to a top prospect.

This was more like if Wright has a bad year and a half but still has some pedigree and he gets moved in addition to the 1st.

Esposito was definitely not even close to the primary piece in the deal.

Don't matter who the pens get back because Sullivan will just turn a guy like Lekkerimaki into the next Harkins...

After the trade goes down, whatever under 23yr old is the headliner just hold a memorial for what could have been.

Fingers crossed for a left field type server crashing trade like EP for Guentzel and Crosby as a basis

Yeah, a lot of Jake highlight reel goals on YouTube are the direct result of one of Sid's primes during the cup run - where he's either finding a wide open snipe or tap in....but regular season stuff this guy is absolutely fantastic at being in the right place pretty much ALL the time. It's not some hyperbole where guys talk about hockey smarts - Jake always seems to be available for a tip in (which his hand eye is second only to Sid on the team), clean up from a goalie rebound, or open in the slot. It's noticeable when he's on the ice and noticeable when he's not there and the play dies.

... so the talk about whether he can score without Sid/Geno needs to be chilled down a bit. Though, if you insist - all the more reason to partner him with your 1C. But again, it's his genuine smarts and finishing ability that make this guy so damned good. Can't sell him short at this point with his track record.

I hope someone locks up Mccrimmon in a room without a phone until after the trade deadline. No way this team should be buying anything right now. I would rather sell to be honest.

Defending champs, sitting on LTIR space, in a playoff position. What you'd personally like doesn't fit with where your team is at or at all with how they have shown to operate.

Jake really would be a nice get for the Canucks. Proven 1st line winger with a cup and several strong playoff performances.

Lol This reads: “blah blah blah gives us your good players for our bad ones, you can’t have our ok ones”
I've literally said I don't expect the Nucks to get Guentzel because of the outrageous asking price and that's perfectly fine. We don't need him anyways.

Goodluck with the trade.

Then leave it alone and stop posting in every Guentzel trade thread. Notice this thread is five other teams as well?

Go away.
The mods are not sending their best. "I wouldn't trade a 23 year old on pace for less than 40 points in his 4th season for the best player on the market one for one."

Jake Guentzel was a year younger than Hoglander when he lead the playoffs in goals en-route to a Stanley Cup as a rookie. This is like a Pens mod in 2008 saying they wouldn't trade Colby Armstrong for Marian Hossa straight up.
