The issue w the Bruins sending Poitras back to the Storm is their lack of cap space. They have zero cap space and letting Poitras go back would worsen that situation as they'd have to spend cap space for a replacement

This is also true. So part of that equation may be what they do on the trade front if they feel they need to remedy that situation. They essentially have two starting goalies, there were rumours early in the season that they may trade one out. They are now protecting his minutes, and he's on the third line... so I think business is going to be the determining factor as opposed to him blowing them out of the water.

I have now all but guaranteed he gets a hat trick tonight.

The Western Conference is wild at this point. Two points separate spots 4-8.

Clean sweep of opponents this weekend, we'll done.

Sandhu out with injury. We are now down 3 defencemen.

Wonder if Guelph goes after Owen Beck as a Poitras replacement. Peterborough would be smart to re-stock on picks since it seems they're coming back down to earth after a surprisingly good start.

I think that’s the obvious choice for a replacement, a centre with scoring ability.

I’m happy to see Slavik come in on Saturday and hold the Fort and play well. Then he followed up with a good game yesterday. Hoping he gets some more starts in the future to showcase his skill and give Gillespie some rest.

Not impressed tonight at the halfway point. I'd like to see Serlin on the 2RW instead of Grundner. Can't wait until our D are healthy.

I wasn’t impressed through the whole game. Probably the most uninspired play I’ve seen this year and no one, from the coach down, looked like they wanted to be there. Well, except for McGuire - he comes to play every night. If the whole team played with the tenacity and effort he does on every shift, there wouldn’t be a lot to worry about.

Impressive game by Luchanko today! 2 goals and an assist for a point on all the goals. Really impressed with his game lately and playing in the top 6 and responsibility on the PK.

Expect him to be a massive riser in the NHL draft this year similar to Cowan last season.

He has definitely taken the next step this year, it's great to see.

I'd imagine the Bruins have already installed their "your now a Boston droid" microchip into Poitras. Dude is on autopilot until Jack Edward's calls the final seconds of a Bruins Stanley Cup.
I get what you’re saying however it’s similar to how Dylan guenther started the year last year for arizona- on fire the first 10-15 games then slowed down- then loaned to world juniors then eventually made his way back to junior

Poitras started off on fire and the last 10 games only has 4 pts. That’s why I think he gets sent back- not because he can’t hang in the big leagues but because he hasn’t been consistent enough. I imagine if he gets sent to the WJC he will be one of the top 3 players in Canada and Boston will take a look at him after for a few games and if it isn’t better then they send him back for a potential m cup run with Guelph

Also don’t want anyone coming for my neck for saying this. I just put on here as I see things I’d assume some others don’t agree with me on this. Time will tell what happens.

Also Leon draisaitl played 30+ games with Edmonton his d+1 year before getting shipped to Kelowna and look at him now.

Poitras not on the WJC list. That puts that theory to rest.

Congrats to Buchinger! The defence will miss him greatly... if/when he makes the roster thats 11 games without him, in addition to Allen and Beauchesne still out.

I hope Sandhu gets extra minutes, he's been playing well.

Sandhu/Romeo
Hislop/Singh
Call up/Topp

IMO Slavik should've gotten the start tonight. Based on how he played against Kitchener last game, and not getting the nod enough.

Gillespie had a hot start but is settling into his baseline. He is super competitive and I've seen him convince the bench not to pull him before. Slavik has solid stats and deserves his share.

(While writing this a Kitchener got a goal on Slavik..... I stand by my statement though.... and also miss Poitras so much.)

Larry Mellott saying both Buchinger and Sandhu getting checked out today after leaving yesterday's game with injury. So that leaves us with....

4 defensemen, one of whom is a rookie.

Was Buchinger's injury serious? Hopefully won't jeopardize his chances at the selection camp!
