Question: at the end of tonight's game there was a scrum in the Pete's corner. After it was broken up Guelph skated back to their end leaving a stick behind. A Pete's player picked it up, tried to break it and then gave it to a fan . Considering the price of these sticks will /should there be financial repercussions or is it a big nothingburger?

Given how many sticks break over the course of a season I think financially it's in the noise. Worst case would be a ref could, I suppose, give a player a penalty/misconduct for trying to break a Storm stick.

I'm sure most will agree Guelph went 'sell mode' this year at the deadline. However, since then they have gone 4-1, in 7th place only 2 points out of 6th. They may still crash, but for now they are playing solid hockey, especially on defence. Here's hoping it continues.

Interesting to see Ryan Merkley asked for and got a trade from San Jose to Colorado. Maybe the move to a more competitive team will help his development.

I expected this response :naughty:
I was more referring to his second move...
I don't think it can be argued that Guelph isn't a strong OHL organization especially in the George Burnett era here..
If Hunter hadn't picked him up he was heading to a Junior B team. It may have been better in the long run if he had. His on and off ice attitude is why he's in the predicament he is now.

Should be a close game between Guelph and the Knights this evening...usually are and here's why.
From Bill Maher's "I don't know if it's a fact, I just know it's true".
I don't know if it's a fact, I just know it's true that George Burnett has written "how to contain the London Knights", a copy of which he keeps in the bottom right drawer of his desk buried under a copy of Freud's "Civilization and Its Discontents" and Lacan's "The Language of the Self" conveniently donated by our friend, StormWatcher.
4-2 (empty net)

Unfortunately this game has more of a Crime and Punishment feel.

will anyone be making the trek to Sarnia on Wednesday for the game? I'm a sting flex pack ticket holder who has hardly made a dent in my available alotment, so if anyone wants some freebies feel free to reach out

Spent the afternoon at the Sleeman as my kid had a game. Saw the boys loading up. This is the second time I've watched with anthropological curiosity as they load up and head out at 3 with military precision. Lol. Review: My kid actually touched the puck a few times during the U8 game!!!

But seriously, glad to see the team pick up a road win. Contrary to the announcers when discussing the playoffs, of the current top 3, I want London 1st round.

Heading to the game on Monday. I'm not currently a STH, so if the Skate With Storm details have been sent out, please shoot me a DM. My kiddo was sick when her team played the intermission so she is hyped to get out there on Monday.

O.K. who here thinks Guelph has enough runway to sneak into that 4th spot? I don't have time to do comparisons on who Saginaw and Owen Sound play leading up to the playoffs... maybe later. A win against London tomorrow and I think they just might do it.

Edited to add: Prediction, they go 9 and 3 to finish the season. It'll be tough.

Guelph has 7 games left with the top 8 teams in the league, including 2 each with London and Windsor. I'll be happy with 7 and 5, any more wins will be a bonus.
Saginaw will be hard to catch- easier schedule IMO but have the eastern swing next weekend. Could come down to the final weekend when Guelph travels to Saginaw.
Owen Sound schedule is similar to Guelph but they have 3 games left with Kitchener. Always tough.

Moot point now but the Karabella goal that got called back was actually a goal. Re-watched the game at home and you can clearly see the puck cross the line by about 4 inches into the armpit of Brochu. And the tying goal was a nice pass from Brochu to Cooper Walker.

Guelph beats London today and Saggy loses to Flint. I'm not delusional, the actual outcome is likely between our predictions.

I was at home watching with a sick kid, no clue where you could tell it crossed the line by 4 inches given the abysmal video footage on Rogers. That being said, London didn't capitalize on specialty teams, Guelph pulled it off despite icing the cake all game. Bowman has been my favourite player the past two seasons. I called it in 3 on 3 once Guelph's dynamic players had all that ice.

There was a very clear view when they did the replay. You have to keep a close eye on Karabella and you will see it.

With where they stand now, I kind of want a Guelph/London match up. If the season series are any indication, that may be a best case scenario.
