Any news on gogo?

Saw the play no ones fault on the injury on the play, just hard-nosed work ethic by all involved.

Gogolev got tangled up in the play and landed awkwardly on his leg, harmlessly in intent by all accounts but yet still never nice to see. Hearing of observation tests for him but more then likely he'll be sidelined for the Storm and have season ending surgery to repair any major damage.

Never a good thing for any player in this league

you're an awesome player Gogolev;... lookin forward to next year.. to your return.

It's never nice to lose players to long term injury. But if there is a positive to come out of it, these players will be back in time to get back in game shape leading into the playoffs.

If I'm Guelph, I make the moves I planned on making before anyone got hurt because once everyone is back, you'll be all set.

I still see this team giving London a hard time if they meet in the playoffs.
you can't rush these injuries back..even IF the breaks set ..it takes weeks to tune and find your game again....what mgmt. ownership does now is a HUGE issue..if they mess this up they should all walk the plank....tread carefully is my advise...

Hey heard the injury bug hit you guys pretty hard recently. Do you think the storm will still go for it this year or try and build for next year?

There is no building for a run next year too many 19 year olds gone this summer. The team will be taking a step back next year regardless if they buy or sell this year

With all the injuries I'm definitely hoping they sell. They will lose home ice with the extended absence of 2 top 6 forwards and no D. If SSM holds onto their 19 year olds and Ratcliffe could draw a recent 1st rounder or solid young prospect go for it.

Thanks RCS, our holiday was great. We got our daughter (2.5) on skates for the first time. Hope you and yours are doing well.

The roster issues that continue to hamper this management group is bordering on inexcusable.

It's one thing to be so short handed in a year where the results aren't the number one priority, but in a year where you're supposed to be going for it, you've got to at least make a move to stabilize things. Doesn't even have to be a major move....just plug the hole with an actual OHL player.

If you're going to jam the fans for what ranks among the highest ticket prices in the league, the least this merry bunch or morons could do would be to ice a full squad.

At least pretend you're trying!

Given the serverity of our injury situation, to plug all these holes would definitely deplete our stock of young talent and picks. I see the team going in two directions.

One being trade for the Dmen we needed before the injuries and possibly another forward. Play out the rest of the season and even though we drop in the standings and lose home ice, we could surprise a few people when the wounded get back by playoff time. I believe this team even with the injuries can still qualify for the playoffs.

The other direction would be to pack the season in because trying to fill both the needs before and after the injury bug hit will put us in a very bad position for the years to come. That being said, I think we sell our assets and recoup some quality players and picks in return to shorten the reset button to 2 yrs. If they play their cards right and get a couple of 18 yr olds back maybe even next year.

My recommendation would be to go with option 2, I know it won’t sit well with others on here.

How do you know they aren’t trying? Safe in saying the tram isn’t going to announce targets on an online message board

Did you see the lineup last night, even before the injury? And now?

I'm not suggesting they need to trade for Durzi or someone to fill the need on D....Flint and London both have excess D. It's likely their worst D would right now be like #4 or #5 on our roster, and I'm sure the cost wouldn't be too high.

I think asking for a team to ice the required number of OHL players in a year where wins are what matters, isn't asking a lot. This is not a one time or one week issue. This is an issue that has plagued them for some time.

But, I'm told that yes, it is too much to ask. Apologies.

Provided the injured could be back playing and in game shape by playoff time, it makes sense for Guelph to buy. Selling off Ratcliffe and Schnarr in an increasing buyers market may not be the answer.

However, depending on the medical report on Gogolev, if he does have to have season ending surgery, meaning he won't be available this year, would it be so out of the question to move him for help this year?

If it can be determined that he'll make a full recovery and be at 100% in September, a selling team this trade deadline may have interest in his services going forward - especially a selling or stand pat team that expects to be much better next year - and therefore would be willing to wait for his services. If Guelph is likely to go into a rebuild next year as battfan888 suggests above, Gogolev could be on the block then anyway as a graduating player.

This would give Guelph another assets in which to use to get better at this deadline. Just a thought.

I'm not sure if the league allows a trade for an injured player.

I like to think of it as settle.. depends on whose running things next year..this team has too many air pockets need to be released..foundation work..grow through draft..don't get stupid about it; head office needs a bitta blood work..we have a good core still..maybe Shnarr and Radcliffe for futures and picks+++

re gogo move.. that WOULD be just the kind of rats butt thing this team would do..everything about Gogolev was a fit..and I believe heez a team guy who was happy here..this is the kind of player you build on ... and learn character from.. See!?..the vultures even want at him now..if he can still play... I want him here.

no way can you play hard ball on a situation like Gogolev..God forbid;..but injuries have ended careers....we would get nada in return....I say stand by this fine young player..heeza a keeper.

Guelph is not dealing from a position of strength.. nobody is doing us favours..the vultures circle.

Larry Mellott says that they say Gogolev will be back before the end of this season. Good news.
back;.. but it will be his second training camp..recovery is a complex and time consuming process.. .. you must not rush it... and this team may or may not make the play offs now.. changes needed.. rebuild from the top.

Especially once the sellers sell in this conference.
I'd be a seller..Rad. and Shnaar.. for next year and beyond....not enough quality depth here now..and goin all in on a big dumb buy would guarantee nada..but an empty cupboard..too little....too late..its rebuild time folks... maybee a big emotional charge to cap it off.. .. maybe 2-3 rounds of hard play.... then its .. SUMMERTIME .... sell for big picks and big..prospects...IMO of course.!
