Last year the Predators canceled a U2 concert.
This year they are threatening to behind the rebuild. Seems like Trotz is just trying to shock his team into living up to expectations. Pretty much everyone of consequence on that team has term.

Maybe the Canucks can buy low on Colton Sissons to be the 4th line centre.

Good time to inquire on defensemen Carrier or Fabbro if the Predators are down and out.

I think Carrier would be a welcomed addition since he is a great puck mover and can be used in any situation.

Sissons and Carrier would be a good get for some of our needs, but I imagine teams would pay more for Carrier and it doesn’t exactly turn us into a contender. Need to knock the d trade out of the park.

That Stamkos deal when they already had Forsberg for that role was strange. If it was 1 or 2 yrs sure give it a try but now it's just a bleed down contract and you have to try and facilitate a bad fit. Anchor deal

Luke Evangelista was playing like a top6 RW. They really needed another C as Novak was a flash in the pan as a top6 and Sissons should be fazed to a 4C or even RW with his skating.

It's not like the market was ripe for top6 Cs but that certainly should have been the goal to at least find someone to try in that role. Krebs Sillinger Zegras Frost or even go get a veteran in Granlund or Brock Nelson. Got an excess of young winger prospects not sure why after Forsberg they needed 2 fossils needing prime offensive situations to have success to overpay in AAV and term

L'Heureux Wood Svechkov Molendyk and Kemell trending in the right direction and 5 picks in the first 2 round this year (3 1sts 2 2nds ) Tomasino i always thought is a good player but he's struggled to break through same as Parssinen. Jack Matier is a good 3RD prospect down the road possibly.

I know they probably felt some pressure with Josi aging but you still have to look at 2-3yrs down the road especially when your in the 2nd 3rd tier of teams

The problem is who is dealing us a top four RD that could consistently play with Hughes? That kind of talent is very rarely available, and in the event one is they'll come at a premium cost we really can't afford.

Say, for example, Andersson shakes loose. There's no scenario we acquire him without Willander going the other way. And then we won't be able to afford in two years when he inevitably wants 7-8M because we're stuck with 5M in dead cap.

It just isn't going to happen unless we get lucky acquiring someone like Byram who suddenly explodes.

That's why I advocate for a Dallas Smith clone: not an obvious top four type, but a guy who can quietly complement one of the game's best players. Bobby Orr didn't need a partner who was a top four. He had the puck all the time, and he just needed a defensive guy with a decent IQ who was a high-average skater and had a good understanding of his role. That was Smith.

In the first half of the seventies, Orr was notching about 120 points a season (in a league watered down by an expansion that doubled its size). Playing alongside him, Smith averaged about 30 points and allowed Orr to do his thing.

Just my two cents, but I don’t think anyone much cared that he blasted the trolls online. But in the same breath, he took a bunch of shots at the Canucks organization and players - people that CBC counts on having good relationships with and access to. I suspect behind the scenes he was likely coached not to bite the proverbial hand that feeds, no matter how empathetic his employer and colleagues were to what he was dealing with with the trolls.

For that matter, I believe Bieksa likely got a similar chat for his remarks about the media in Edmonton (even though he was bang on).

I am sorry to ask, but I missed the comments. Any chance of a summary of those?
