I very much don't want to move Miller, as the return in any Miller trade is likely to cripple our chances of competing during Hughes' current contract. Drury also seems like a nightmare to deal with in negotiations as he seems to massively overvalue the worth of his players to the detriment of making his team better by making a fair deal. I don't see any path to the team being competitive over the next couple seasons if they trade Miller for the rumored Chytil + Lindgren + 1st package that's been floated. It's got to be a package around Lafreniere or Schneider, minimum, and even those two are overrrated due to the market they play in and will make the team much worse in the short term. Lafreniere is one of the worst 1st overall picks in the last decade+, and Schneider is a bit of an adventure in his own zone.

I would be interested in getting Victoria born and raised G Dylan Garand back in a Rangers deal, he's starting to put things together for a bad AHL team.

Sounds like it's finally ending. Good to hear there are multiple suitors.

Sad end to what was (at times) a brilliant career for this franchise. He had some of the greatest seasons for a Canuck forward we've ever seen despite the emotional issues and disappearing acts.

I feel Miller is on the same level of someone like Bertuzzi in terms of his place in Canuck lore (obviously not comparing the Moore situation to this).

if you want to remain competitive chytil and lindgren is probably a better return than lafreniere or schneider (altho getting both of them would obviously be better). lafreniere has looked better this year but still doesn't look that good and schneider i don't get at all. he'd be another bottom pairing guy right now. maybe eventually he'll be more but he's not that yet. chytil and lindgren have big question marks with their health but i can see why management would want them more than the more "futures" oriented guys

if the canucks are going to get futures from the rangers i prefer perrault, othmann and emery to either of lafreniere or schneider

Connor McDavid (Johnston)
  • Not going to appeal his suspension
  • Appeals haven’t been historically useful
  • McDavid feels it’s a stiff punishment
J.T. Miller (LeBrun)
  • It’s a “when” not “if”
  • No one knows when a trade will take place
  • Miller hasn’t given a list of teams but the Canucks know where he wants to go
  • Carolina Hurricanes are looking for an upgrade to their offense
  • New Jersey Devils have held talks with the Canucks
  • Dallas Stars is a team a lot of people believe Miller would waive for; wonders if they will make a pitch
  • Canucks didn’t want to do a futures deal early on in negotiated but have relented and are willing to take that as a return when it comes to making a deal with a contender
  • Canucks are telling teams they aren’t giving Miller away
Edmonton Oilers (LeBrun)
  • Looking for a depth defencemen; like their 7 guys
  • Someon in a shutdown role
Pittsburgh Penguins (Johnston)
  • Beyond the obvious, no untouchables
  • Want to get younger
  • Looking for younger NHL players instead of picks and prospects
  • Don’t want to retain salary on any mult-year contracts

"Canucks didn’t want to do a futures deal early on in negotiated but have relented and are willing to take that as a return when it comes to making a deal with a contender"

Unprotected firsts will be very valuable in the upcoming two drafts. McKenna and Dupont are generational-level talents.

Should be noted, the Canucks don't have any spare players on the roster; Myers suspended, Juulsen injured, Joshua on IR, and no extra forwards. Would have to call someone up from Abby immediately or play shorthanded.
