more inclined to keep boeser if they move suter and miller fwiw. just too slow of a team that we need to build speed around him. especially given pettersson’s lost a step and this may just be his new norm

Interesting read. Ultimately suggests JT Miller & Arturs Silovs for Martin Necas, Spencer Martin, & 2nd (2025). I'd be fine if that was the trade. I'm not huge on Necas and his contract put you in a real bind (he's UFA after next season) but vastly prefer it to what the Rangers were supposedly offering.

Necas would be a fantastic addition, but then you're in tough resigning him given his production this year. He's also slowed down quite a bit from his earlier torrid pace.

Spencer Martin? No deal!

We don’t necessarily win the trade, but we remain a hell of a lot more competitive with Necas replacing Miller rather than Chytil + Lindgren

Would be floored if Carolina offered up Necas, but you obviously take that and run.

I tend to think a Miller trade to CAR would look more like the Guentzel deal.
Only way I can see it happening is if Carolina knows that Necas won’t be re-signing there, in which case it would be a win for them to have 6 more years of Miller over 5-6 more months of Necas.

That's my thinking as well. Although I think the key aspect for the Canucks in the Rangers trade is the 1st round pick. Most likely they want to flip it for another player.

That Carolina deal is a helluva lot better than the Rangers offer.

Especially if Necas can move between W and C like Miller can.

Necas is 5th on the Hurricanes in faceoffs but it's very distant and is below 40%.

Send him to Abby for Malhotra faceoff boot camp.

What if they’re not close on a new contract? There’s no way he’d let Necas walk without getting something back.
They have another year to sort that out. If they can get Miller for trash like KK and Ros, they'd much rather do that and keep Necas too, I would think.

My sources say Byram took one look at Vancouver's weather today and decided there's no way he's heading back to Buffalo. :sarcasm:

Don't see how Carolina does the trade without ditching Kotkaniemi on us somehow. I'm not sure how Necas is viewed in Carolina at this point given they've already had issues signing him etc.

Tulsky aint trading Nceas for Miller

miller being signed long term at a low cap is probably attractive to the canes, and they will absolutely move a guy they know they cannot re-sign before they have a gun to their head. i also think they are looking at necas' productivity with dismay as to re-signing the guy.

but he's going to squeeze more than silovs out of us if he does. add boeser and send chatfield back maybe.

Yeah, in a climbing cap world having the cost certainty of Miller is nice....especially if you like his heavy game more than Necas'....I know I do.
Who do you think Rod would like more...

Carolina also doesn't want to pay necas what he wants, which is probably more today then it was when they signed his short term deal to push the issue down the road, and onto another team.
Van can pay him with millers money, how much more & whether they want to is another question.

In any case I dont think the miller return will be bad, wont be Lafreniere tier but id be surprised if it was as weak as nyr rumor.
