Miller doesn't shave often enough to play for Lou.

Recap of Frank Seravalli's bit about the Canucks.

Canucks
  • Abundantly obvious that they are trying to make something happen with Miller
  • Got pushback from the Rangers end; wasn’t conditions on the 1st round pick but Rangers wanted retention on Miller’s contract
  • Canucks looking to get assets back and then use the cap space and flip assets for another player; since he doesn’t think they can get the players they want in one transaction
  • A lot of their issues are self-inflicted
Tocchet
  • Questions whether Tocchet is okay with Miller being traded
  • Mentions how it is a club option on Tocchet’s contract
Boeser
  • Boeser thinks the drama has affected the team’s on-ice play
  • Wonders if Boeser still wants to be a part of the organization

It's pretty obvious Boeser is going to be playing in Minnesota next season.

Only question is if we trade him there directly, or as a rental somewhere else and hopefully get one of those deadline deal steals.

Moving JTM only makes moving off brock easier, it's fully EP, hughes, Debrusks team to lead. (Plus trade return assets)

Slowly, ever so slowly, sharpening my pitchfork for this management group.

Boeser performed admirably being part of the Benning bullshit years. He'll always be in the Brendan Morrison tier for me. Definitely a great draft pick.

If the Canucks don't know what it'll take to sign Boeser at this point, wtf are they doing. I don't see it as particularly large leap here.

They know what it takes. That has been mentioned several times by Dhaliwal. Both sides know what the other side want.

Sometimes you got to wonder if NHL GMs are more interested in winning trades than winning hockey games. Like how many years of Panarin/Shersterkin's prime did the Rangers waste by not stepping up for JTM last time he was available? 2 playoff run with a 90+pts 1C for 5.25m, and they pass because of Schneider!? Now they have another chance to get him and best they can do is Chytil Lindgren and a conditional 1st?
TBH, it's probably ego / an element of not wanting to look stupid. If you flip a 2nd round pick for Derek Roy and that doesn't pay off - you don't look really THAT dumb. People can call you out for being cautious but whatever. If he doesn't work out for you, it's not like you gave up a lot. You tried to bargain hunt and it didn't work out, oh well. It's low risk, low reward but *if* it works out, you look like a genius.

However if you make a big swing for the fences move and trade top flight assets in a move and that blows up in your face, it's almost job defining. Forsberg for Erat probably still stings.

The problem I have with Boeser (and more so Myers), is that they're looking for what they're worth now, without taking into account the earlier overpayment. I feel like there were a few years he wasn't meeting expectations, last year being an anomaly.

I get how the market works, just find it irritating. Myers was seriously overpaid for 4/5 years, and still gets 3M/yr x 3. Should have been 1.5 maybe. Boeser to a lesser extent but not worth $8M to me.

The issue is largely, I would imagine, term more so than dollars.

I think it's term as well.

I think they'll make him a final offer closer to the TDL, similar to Pettersson, and if he doesn't take it, then he will be dealt.

My hope is that he takes it.

all the bad news is coming from east coast media sources. friedman does not have a handle on this story the way he usually does with the canucks and other canadian teams.

i think the demko and boeser stuff is just pressure on the team to get the miller thing over with.

feels like a media campaign by drury or miller's agent or both to get miller out.

Boeser now Tocchet saying how all this as leaked into the dressing room, gotta think they make a deal soon.

how so? boeser is almost surely going to get 7 years if he goes to market and has no reason to accept less. from where i sit canucks can offer that or go to 8. that can be settled right now.

the cap is rumoured to be going up significantly. that could be worth millions of dollars to boeser. he has every reason to wait.
