that's a win/win trade. nashville have 3 firsts next year (albeit all probably non lottery picks) and edstrom is an alright prospect

the sharks get a potential star goalie whose age aligns nicely with celebrini, smith, dickinson, mukhamadullin, bystedt, musty and chernyshov

Demko:
-Canucks are exploring their options and are in the market for additional goaltending insurance
-Demko has no timeline
-multiple sources have indicated that Demko won't be ready for training camp or preseason games
-club is hopeful he is ready for opening night
-no one close to the situation is willing to talk
-Canucks mood shifted by the draft
-Demko arrived in Vancouver about a week ago

Lankinen:
-have reached out to Kevin Lankinen; have strong interest in him
-Torenius and Lankinen are familiar with each other
-Canucks have made Lankinen an offer this week
-wants to start season under the cap and not on LTIR; Plan A is to accrue cap space

Clark:
-no word on how Demko feels about the goaltending coach changes but he was given prior notice
-decision was made by Clark
-not sure why Clark lost his Director of Goaltending title

Misc:
-no update on Boeser
-Joshua already in Vancouver
-Podkolzin was traded because the team felt they'd lose him on waivers or would have to accept a low-ball offer
-Canucks already want to trade the 4th they got from Podkolzin
-Jujhar Khaira was also on the club's radar for the PTO they gave to Sammy Blais
-Canucks not interested in Nick Cousins or Milan Lucic

Everything about the Demko situation sounds bad. I don't see how he'll be ready for the regular season if he's going to miss all of training camp and the preseason. Now I wonder if he'll start the season on IR.

I'd look at Blackwood for Poolman + late pick swap. Blackwood's cap hit is less than Poolman's so you'd end up with slightly more capspace.

IIRC. isn't Blackwood the goalie that turned into prime Marty Brodeur for NJ every time we played them?

I like your proposal there, and could see him making sense as a stop gap solution. Whoever we get, I don't think the intent is for them to be a long term fit with Silovs, Pitera, Tolopilo, etc. in the pipe.

Oh, How I missed Vector's recaps.

On Jujar Khaira - don't see why we couldn't do the same thing even with Blais in there. He'd be much more likely to be an AHL guy, but as a quality vet and a local to boot, he could be great for the kids on the farm.

Wouldn't surprise me if he starts on the IR. I didn't like the moves on the backend during the offseason but I was thinking a healthy Demko could cover them up.

Hopefully whatever he's dealing with isn't chronic.

Thanks for the recap, I'd assume they want to package the 4th with Poolman to avoid LTIR.

The problem now is that the AHL is filled up. Khaira would be purely PTO.
Take it for what you will, but with Khaira I know personally there are still a lot of injury concerns there. It's really not looking good for his career, which is quite unfortunate.

Wonder what exact injury and procedure Demko got this summer. This vague reporting stinks compared what they do for the NFL for example especially with the NHL embracing gambling.

the f*** happened to the plan to switch the maroon seats? they said they were gonna do it this summer.
Yeah this and the lack of a true practice facility are just pathetic at this point. It’s been years since we’ve been wondering about both. Billion dollar franchise and they can’t even get this shit done after a decade+

“But property is hard to find!” (for cheap)
The old casino downtown seemed like the ideal spot to partner up with. But my guess is that FA just wanted to lend the Canucks name and brand and not put up any money.

Not sure anywhere else is going to just let the Canucks not put up any money in a joint venture. Nearly 20 years with FA and the Nucks. And no dedicated practice facility….
