The Canucks are in a good enough spot that they do not need to panic right now. Yes, the defence is not looking good but I still hold out hope that Soucy and Myers can get back to at least a reasonable level. How has McWard looked in Abby? I remember the attempted Hughes - McWard experiment - perhaps it is time to try that again for a few games and pray to god that Soucy figures it out. If Demmer comes back, that may "magically" make our D look better again!
Hughes - McWard
Soucy - Myers
Brannstrom - Desharnais
I disagree completely, if we don’t get something soon, we’re gonna start slipping in the standings and it’s gonna have serious implications on our playoffs.

You can’t run that defence longer than a couple weeks at most.

You need to find a stop gap, even if it cost a second rounder next season.

Or find a legit top 4 guy and pay now that’s not a rental

I would think that as we speak the team is accelerating any plan they had to acquire a top-4 defenceman. It's now or not at all.

More likely we convince him to just skip school. It’s not like he’s really there for the education.

University education is becoming so diluted with useless SHIT it's unbelievable. Few degrees are holding their ground, like engineering, thankfully.

Regarding our situation, like I said, forcing a trade right now would be unwise as other teams will do everything they can to rip us off. If a trade makes sense, then sure. But panic trading major assets for a bandaid is the modus operandi of Commando Dimbo.

Hoglander
  • Kuzmenko-like with what’s happening
  • All parties are trying to get things back on track; everyone wants him to play well and get his confidence back
  • No trade request made
  • Agent is concerned
  • Canucks are making calls on the market and teams want Hoglander
  • Doesn’t sound like the Canucks want to trade him at the moment
  • Mentions Boeser’s agent, 18 months ago, was given permission to negotiate with other teams to acquire Boeser and how Boeser turned it around afterwards
  • Issue with Hoglander is his play without the puck
  • Not trying to trade him

Much like Kuz, it just doesn’t work. Doesn’t matter what they try to do.

At this point you are just trying to not tank his value before he’s traded.

University education is becoming so diluted with useless SHIT it's unbelievable. Few degrees are holding their ground, like engineering, thankfully.
Silly comment imo. University degrees have always been poly-topic in makeup, specifically so the people that come out of the program have some actual worldly context to their knowledge, rather than just a hyperfocussed tunnel vision on their subject of choice - in fact, I'd argue that going all the way back to Oxford, it is one of the distinguishing features of a university degree vs things like certificates. Study the classics and learn from the greats, no matter what your specific focus is.

An economist cannot just study economics. They'd be useless. They have to study it in concert with things like sociology and political science for it to be worth anything at all in the real world.

I did have a chuckle at your example though, because while engineers might be good at their job, they are a famously socially maladjusted group and often give employers and coworkers massive headaches. Believe it or not, social skills are pretty important in the real world when working in teams; maybe if they took a sociology class they might behave less like aliens.

Tock reveals he wasn't all that impressed with the practice regimen when he took over the team. And Tocchet does a Charlie Brown impression. Not one of you saw that coming.

None of the engineers I know are aliens, they are all hard working normal people. My neighbor helped me install our heat pump for free, the guy is a stud.

To me, education is a means to get a good job, unless the family is wealthy enough for the person to do whatever he/she wants. Even when I was in nursing school I find 20% of the classes to be a complete waste of time.

From a social perspective, most engineers are the worst.

Incredibly smart but no ability to interact with other people.
