University education is becoming so diluted with useless SHIT it's unbelievable. Few degrees are holding their ground, like engineering, thankfully.

Regarding our situation, like I said, forcing a trade right now would be unwise as other teams will do everything they can to rip us off. If a trade makes sense, then sure. But panic trading major assets for a bandaid is the modus operandi of Commando Dimbo.
Context is impoetant, he decided to go to BU over the SHL for hockey developmental reasons, not for education. His path is already unusual compared to the typical path.

I don’t think we will do a panic trade.

Absolutely teams want Hoglander.

But they are unlikely to want to give up much for him.

They made a good point on the radio he's still on the "bargain" contract for remainder of season, so yes I'd imagine this is the case since you have some contract flexibility on him until the new deal kicks in. Given that, your best bet would probably be to try to rehabilitate some of his value, and if you are going to move him do it closer to the deadline.

And the cap goes up most likely extra this summer so probably more palatable.

I disagree completely, if we don’t get something soon, we’re gonna start slipping in the standings and it’s gonna have serious implications on our playoffs.

You can’t run that defence longer than a couple weeks at most.

You need to find a stop gap, even if it cost a second rounder next season.

Or find a legit top 4 guy and pay now that’s not a rental
I think it’s a bit of a question of how much the team wants to roll the dice. The schedule is fairly soft the next six weeks or so, so even if they don’t do anything they could tread water and may come out unscathed, but if things go poorly it’s going to be a mountain to climb in the new year to get back into the race. I’d be surprised if they want to leave things to chance but trading the first, for instance, could be pretty risky right now.

Fair enough. He will do what he thinks is best, being a responsible adult.

If this season end up being lost, I wouldn't really be too upset. Just hope our team will give some young players like Pedey some chances to get on ice and ease themselves into the games.

Obviously depends on what they are trading a 1st for. For someone with term, then I think they won't have a problem doing it.

Ironically, this could be a strange sort of "blessing" in the sense if other teams think we're going to fizzle out due to injuries/Miller's situation, then our 1st becomes that much more valuable. It's certainly a risk on our part but our picks are suddenly a lot more attractive right now than say, Edmonton, Colorado or anyone else in the Pacific.

Happened with the Islanders pick for Hronek. Canucks traded for it when the value was at it's highest then pretty quickly flipped it. Islanders ended up making the playoffs and the pick ended up being in the middle of the round.

I’m ok with that but think it has to be for someone who is or reasonably projects to be a 2/3 defender.

Ditto. It's a really weird market where I can't figure who is available and who isn't. I keep harping on Kesselring since I think he's the perfect match but there's really no pressure or motivation for Utah to move him. Beyond him, I'm not sure if there's anyone that makes sense.

Yeah he makes a lot of sense as a buy low for teams who want secondary scoring. And the advantage he has over a guy like Sprong is his ability to win puck battles and forecheck when he's confident and on his game.

Rommel. Possibly Guderian.

Achtung, baby

None of the engineers I know are aliens, they are all hard working normal people. My neighbor helped me install our heat pump for free, the guy is a stud.

To me, education is a means to get a good job, unless the family is wealthy enough for the person to do whatever he/she wants. Even when I was in nursing school I find 20% of the classes to be a complete waste of time.

i have an engineering degree and it was an enormous waste of time. i learned more about engineering in my anthropology and history electives than i did in my engineering courses

I think it would be very Allvin to come out of nowhere with a name we haven’t heard linked to us. Like Trouba or Fowler. (Not saying either of those is a fit per se - just that with his track record, I think it’s a possibility he makes a splash on someone there’s been no buzz about)
Marcus Pettersson will be here by next week.

Trading a first if it’s protected for a non-rental is completely fine with me

That's unfortunate to hear.

For me I've learned way more on the job as a nurse than I did in school. What they taught in school is not useless, per se, but this knowledge when applied in the real clinical setting can be very impractical.
