If Columbus wanted Willander and a 1st would you have the same attitude about the trade not happening?
My attitude was always that mgmt would make an offer that they thought was acceptable and move on if not.

The way they've operated on basically everything to date.

So yes, it seems right they made an offer and moved on once it didn't make sense to CBJ.

Wonder what the Rags want for Kreider?

Kreider - Miller - Boeser would be a great line in theory.

Kreider - Miller - Boeser
Debrusk-EP- Sherwood
Dak- Teddy- Garland
Henien-Raty-Suter

Flames got great value for that trade...on paper.

In reality, Kuzmenko has 1 goal in 23 games this season. Brzusckewicz hasn't scored yet.

You forgot about a 4th round pick and Tony Jurmo!

How so many Flames fans still brag about this deal is wild. They got a 1st and a bunch of spare parts.

His possession stats have been really bad, like worst on the team bad, 5-7% below team average.

Depending on the length of the injury, it looks like the boys are going to have to compete for the wild card spot instead of going for the division.

The strategy to acquire a long term fix on the blue line shouldn’t change, but unless it’s a slam dunk the first might need to be held back - that pick probably has more value at the draft next year to acquire said piece than it will at the deadline.

The team can add a 3-4m $ player right now without using LTIR

no they can't? they only have 750k in cap space with 12 healthy forwards and 5 healthy defensemen. they can't even ice an 18 skater roster without using ltir. i guess they could technically send silovs down and call up pettersson or something and have demko "backup" but i doubt they'll do that just to preserve cap space

All the salary cap sites show us having roughly around 700K in today's cap space without using LTIR

I would love to know how you came up with that number. Genuinely, I need some hope. Please tell me it's true

I believe @Rowlet is talking about a cash neutral trade where Hoglander and Desharnais/Forbort are going the other way as well. They wouldn't be "adding" someone, however.

Does this push the Canucks to increase their offer for Jiricek out of desperation?

He's definitely not what they need on the blue line right now based on what I've seen, but maybe they're hoping for a hail mary that'll pay off in the near future.

The team has 750k in space and a 22 man roster.

First, activate Demko and send down Silovs, this doesn't affect roster count but gives the team a total of 1.6m in space.

Second, send down Bains + Sasson for a roster count of 20 and cap space of 3.3m, or Juulsen if adding a defenseman.

Then you can make whatever deal you want here, if the Pens want Hoglander that's 4.4m in cap space while adding, then call up whoever is necessary.

Not a strict "addition" but it's still very doable, though with how little ice Hoglander sees Tocchet may disagree.

Alexandre Carrier seems like an ideal fit. Especially if they can send back of one Hoglanders or Desharnais contracts in the deal.

I think it would be very Allvin to come out of nowhere with a name we haven’t heard linked to us. Like Trouba or Fowler. (Not saying either of those is a fit per se - just that with his track record, I think it’s a possibility he makes a splash on someone there’s been no buzz about)

No because the cost wasn't what they were willing to pay. At this point we don't know how long he will actually be out.

Well both of them are on the trade market. A real Allvin move would be to acquire my boy Kesselring. Replace Hronek with Hronek.

I really don't see them running with that few players on the roster, especially with the season they're having and the inconsistent performances of certain players. They need to have a couple of spare bodies around for little things that can come up last minute. (illness, minor injury, etc.)

I don't either but it is possible. Admittedly, a better example would be moving Desharnais for Pettersson because it doesn't mess up the fwd count, which would allow the team another functional roster spot, but I just did Hoglander for the math.

Nope, they want Willander and that's not going to happen
