This reads like a romance novel.

Indeed. Maybe that's the twist, and legit happy ending we need here. That these two players figure their shit out and decide to play as 100pt Cs for us.

The add from Van would have to be fairly substantial. I feel we are trading from a position of weakness

The Islanders are 2nd worst in the East and Barzal is on a down year.

Dobson is also a little below normal but he is just playing so much.

Even being totally distracted and now injured Petersson is having the best year of the 3.

Yes, but we are basically asking for their franchise C and D. I just don't see that happening

I know this was posted earlier but he's my recap of all the players the Canucks like on the Islanders according to THN's Stefan Rosner. He also spells Rick Tocchet's last name wrong (Tocchett) so the journalistic standard isn't extremely high.

Canucks Interest in Islanders Players
  • According to industry sources, Canucks have Noah Dobson high on their wish list if the Islanders look to trade him
  • They have interest in prospect Danny Nelson
  • Simon Holmstrom is another player the Canucks like
  • Canucks have interest in Brock Nelson but only if he signs an extension
  • Rick Tocchet likes Casey Cizikas

Thank you for the breakdown.

Dobson has fallen off, but is still a worthy target. Not for Pettersson, but perhaps a Miller + Willander base could make a deal could work for both sides.

They have Pulock to tide things over for their defense.

A little explanation, only a 2 hour drive from Laval to Ottawa.

Does it make sense that they'd go and drive a total 4 hours (there and back) to go watch an AHL game, or is there something more?

it's friday night. you've been stuck in ottawa for over a week and no game tonight. you can go to montreal with your buddies for the night and expense the whole thing it if you stop by a laval game.

Dobson
Nelson
Holmstrom
2025 1st rounder

For

Elias Pettersson

A legitimate superstar (unbelievably talented, proven, 100+ point 40+ goal seasons, entering his prime) for a good but not great defenceman, 2 unproven prospects & a mid first round pick, don’t like this trade if it goes down.

I’d rather Romanov to Dobson and that 1st could be Top 5.

While Miller/Petey has basically achieved "life of its own" status in the media now and the rumors are now essentially sustaining themselves, I still don't see how Vancouver management's position can have changed overly much over the past month, and still think the likeliest outcome is everyone works toward resolving this *in* Vancouver.

That said, lesser management groups might feel the pressure and feel forced to make a deal in this type of situation, even if it comes at a loss. Be interesting to see which way the wind ends up blowing when all is said and done.

Kypreos found a way to increase his listener numbers, I see.
What's your beef with Kypeos?

His show with Bourne is more informative than anything local, more informative than anything Friedman puts out (barring when he tweets directly sourced shit as a mouth piece for the league).

I genuinely can't remember a good kypreos report.

I don't even dislike him. There's nothing to really dislike. He's just a guy who says stuff. Gives Don Taylor energy.

And I absolutely despise Friedman and Seravelli -- but there's way more there when those guys say things.

I'd love to see them add Romanov, he'd add some much needed nastiness on the backend, shoots left but can play both sides.

Dobson doesn’t really seem like the right guy for us, he’s also due for a pay raise. Our D is an issue but trading Miller or Pettersson will open up a huge hole in the top 6. We’ll likely lose Boeser too.
