Just want to mention trading Miller kinda makes it "easier" to move Brock (->Min) ..

This season definitely feels like a tsn turning point, and I'm just not sure how nothing happens core wise in the next eight months.

I might be off base, but has Myers been unusually quiet this year? In the past I remember him often being the guy answering questions after tough games but haven’t noticed him much this year.

I would take a Barzal and Dobson for Petey trade in a heartbeat....Barzal is a dynamic offensive weapon on a shitty team, Dobson is an incredible well rounded defensemen.......on a shitty team.

I think the Canucks would be way better off with both those plays, I'd happily pay ya $5 USD
id take barzal straight up for petey. nyi adds from there. 1st round unprotected and a decent prospect or two.

Canucks have gone about as far as they can with their current 'core' Last year was their time, and they loaded up at the TDL to 'go for it'.

This year it's time for 'retooling'. I think it's probable that Miller, Boeser and even Demko don't finish the year in Vancouver. And what comes back in trades will ultimately determine whether this year has been a 'success' or not......not whether or not they squeeze into the playoffs.

I wonder if Allvin is having any kind of 'sellers remorse' at trading Horvat and extending Miller? The first season of the Miller extension was an overwhelming success. But this year, it's been a bust.

Horvat isn't the scorer Miller is, and probably never will be. But he was the team captain, and a rock in the dressing-room. You'd never have read anything about Horvat feuding with any of his team-mates. And as we all know he desperately wanted to stay in Vancouver.

Asking for a friend

BOS Miller (25% retained) Higlander

Carlo top4 RHD
Frederic young UFA C ( natural position )
Lysell former 1rst round pick ( almost ready )

2nd ( wb a 1rst if Miller wasn’t such a cancer )

I'd like to to counter with (since your friends is crazy low in value)
Miller 10% retained + Forbort

Mason Lohrei, Pavel Zacha, Trent Frederic, Boston 1st.

Be funny if Schmaltz of all guys is right about the Islanders after all the yammering from the Canadian "insiders". Lamourello is old school, he'd love Miller!

At last a true fan. One who knows bandaids aren't the surgery this team needs

There was something about a rift with Miller.
As far as who got traded, it was Tocchet's decision, he got the player he wanted for his team. Like most traded off now.

Probably for the first time in a decade or longer Myers is allowed to rush the puck, he still has speed and a decent shot. It can be expected that he will be a little rusty because his coaches have been using him as a defensive dman. He is doing not bad, not exceptional, but decent as the temp #1.

With the team in such struggles now the realistic hope of a cup run is even more dashed. Those filled with hope and dreams of rainbows and lollipops are desperately trying to get instant gratification. Of course it doesn't help that their media/marketing also keeps pushing this mantra.

I like using old sayings as they seem to have more value as I get older so here this one, "Rome wasn't built in a day" and "A building is only as good as it's foundation"
This foundation, core is fragmented.
Many times now we hear the leadership of the team needs to step up and help resolve this kind of thing internally. This works when the rift is between lower tiers on the team but not when it is the leadership guys in contention.

I’d be shocked if the Canucks retained on Miller. If teams want Miller, which I think they will, his cap hit won’t be an issue. Sure, in the future it might be, but when have we seen cap retained for a player currently playing to his cap hit but because this might not be true in the future.

Damn, Wagner with some insight here.

It would have to be to make things work and increase the return. Even a million in cap space, shouldn't be an issue for the Canucks in the coming years.

This management is trying to compete in the coming years. There is no way they want to retain if they can avoid it. The team would need to bottom out and be forced into a rebuild for the to retain on 6 years of a contract.

What team would need to bottom out, Vancouver? They just bought out OEL for 3 times the price for 5 seasons. Vancouver Can't retain anyways, all slots are filled for this year.

Not a Canucks fan just wanted your guys opinion on this idea. JT + Hoglander for Kreider and Schneider

Yes, Vancouver would need to bottom out to retain on Miller. OEL buyout is not analogous.

Absolutely not IMO...Schneider decent but I'd expect more as a centerpiece in a Miller trade...and Kreider is basically washed.
Well thing is Rangers likely aren’t moving Lafrenière. Kreider seems more like a better fit than Zibanejad. His name keeps being mentioned
