There’s a reason they’ve been doing it while at home and the team is in Abby - just give a gas receipt and that should be proof enough given the proximity between Van and Abby.

Will be interesting if they do anything while on this road trip. Abby Canucks will be in California at the same time. Two games in San Diego followed by one in Ontario (LA suburb) while the Canucks will be in San Jose, followed by Anaheim & LA.

Missed this yesterday.

-trade talk has picked up; patient teams are running out of patience
-Buffalo is active but is looking to add and not subtract
-Avalanche looking for forwards
-Canadiens looking for forwards with an edge but won't trade young players or prospects
-Utah HC looking to trade Carcone
-a few teams looking for defencemen; several teams don't want term
-Oilers look slower than normal and NHL Edge data backs that up

If this had been a 'trade' instead of a 'swapping of UFA's between Boston and Vancouver, you could say it was a trade that hurt both teams--at least so far.

The B's were bleached 8-2 by the Hurricanes tonight, and are on a serious tailspin. And so far Lindholm and Zadorov aren't giving the Bruins anything like what they expected from a supposed No. 1 center and a top-four d-man.

Meantime with the Canucks--Debrusk has been bageled through 10 games; and Heinen has really come up with very little, with the exception of one road game. And unfortunately because of family issues and inconsistency, Forbort really hasn't delivered much either.

'Nothin from 'nothin equals 'nothin so far.

I’m not sold on this team, I would be disappointed if we started trading 1st rounders and top prospects to give this team a boost.

That wasn’t much of a win streak… it was against bottom feeder teams. The Panthers had their top line sitting out and we could barely beat them.
I'm not saying the "streak" was impressive or not impressive.

I'm saying people's vibes of the team flip on a dime, depending on what happened in the last day or two. When in the context of a long, 82 game season, it is perhaps not that important.

If we win tonight we're on pace for 106 points after the first 10 games despite nearly everything going wrong so far. It's been a weird start to the season with a lot of weird emotions.

Fact is we were 2 goals (and really, a health Demko) away from making the WCF's and facing off against a battered Dallas in the WCF last season. A SCF birth was totally realistic last year.

Every single team out West has glaring weaknesses in their lineups (aside from maybe Dallas). This is why you say screw future draft picks and maybe look at shipping out a Jonathan Lekkerimaki for an immediate upgrade.

to me this season all hinges on a possible boeser extension. if the canucks plan to extend him they may as well clean out the cupboards and go all in asap. committing to boeser means committing to competing now and for the next few seasons and they can't afford to squander a year by not sacrificing the future for the present. trade lekkerimaki. trade willander. trade raty, (elias nils) pettersson and silovs if they have any value even. do some of those double retention deals vegas loves and load up. target players with term so you're not back trying to plug holes again in the offseason

if they're not going to extend boeser then things get more complicated. i think there's a case to be made you move him at the deadline along with suter and sprong and even try to move heinen, soucy, myers and garland if there's tempting deals there. use the assets and the cap space to find a defender to anchor the second pairing and replace boeser. hope willander and lekkerimaki can step in and contribute and you can get right back to competing for 2025-26

i think the worst thing they could do is extend boeser and make a couple modest trade deadline moves. yeah any team can win if they get hot at the right time but continually spending assets in situations where you really have little hope is the fastest way to squander a competitive opportunity and prolong the eventual misery when you fall out entirely
