Drance was saying on radio anyways that they know they're losing any trade they make. I believe Dhaliwal echoed the same but without saying it directly.

i just want these two dipshits to play better. this isn't like some teammate sleeping with your wife or gf. millions of people work with people they wouldn't otherwise associate with. has the team tried stepping in with some sort of psychologist/mediator?

there isn't a win to trading either of them

trading miller:
- lose your number 1 centre along with his production, especially on the PP
- lose one of the best players at set plays
- lose one of the best faceoff guys in the league
- what if petey doesn't recover? we are just f***ed.

trading pettersson:
- lose a potential franchise cornerstone
- lose a fantastic defensive forward
- miller is getting older and our depth is just gutted in a year or two if he starts to regress

sure, maybe the room gets happier? but everybody is happy when they win, and they might not win much with such crap centre depth if there isn't a suitable replacement centre out there unless they parlay a 1st round pick into like... idunno, casey mittelstadt?

I've said it before in this thread and I'll say it again: this is probably not just a Miller vs Pettersson thing.

I was actually pretty convinced by both players when they addressed it. I'm sure they don't like each other, but this isn't particularly about them being at each other's throats. If that was the case, the team would be telling Pettersson to suck it up and benching Miller every time he acts inappropriately

The problem is that Miller is a dick to everyone. The problem is that there was zero change even after his 10 game healthy scratch. The problem is that he's an absolute liability on the ice when he's not being sheltered with Hughes minutes. His minutes are decreasing steadily, showing that even the coach who has said so many supportive things about him is also losing patience.

This player badly needs a change of address.

It'll be interesting how they try to sell it to the fans. They'll probably leak some details to the press. IMac article incoming.

Yeah, it's bizarre to me that the GM outright said that he believed Miller would return as a better person and teammate, and people are acting like this is just that Pettersson thinks Miller is a meanie or whatever. It's obvious that there's more to this than has been in public view.

I suspect it started as a Miller vs Pettersson thing, which makes sense with the report that "6 weeks ago they decided they had to move one of them", but Miller's done nothing to endear himself as an option to keep... which happens when the team is losing.

So management isn’t actually targeting the likes of Lindgren, Kotkaniemi and Roslovic? Oh thank god.
That might be more about Laf and Schneider (maybe nemec too).

I am surprised there’s not more K’andre Miller talk. I know it’s been a tough year for him defensively but not long ago he was very highly regarded and would at least bring back a decent piece with upside (also doesn’t sound like he’s untouchable)

I interpreted that more for the Lafrenière report. I hope it’s for these other names, though.

Ahh, curse you both with your logic.

I figured a Chytl + KAM + pick offer would probably be about as good as we could realistically hope for.

If there was a trade with the Rangers for Chytil, Lindgren, and a 1st….and the Rags backed out because the Nucks wanted their 2025 pick. Maybe the Nucks were going to flip the 1st (and additional assets/picks) to gain another asset, like they did to trade for Hronek with the Horvat deal.

Doesn’t sound like Laff or Schneider are being offered up and its pretty obvious teams are lowballing because this fiasco has been ongoing for so long. Too bad Kakko wasn’t there, because maybe he could have been packaged in an offer for JT. In any event, the Rags offer Chytil and Lindgren is very underwhelming and I’d just hang up the phone.

Sooooo. How the F did Miller cross a line that he cant come back from and get these kind of responses

BB6 - "He's a leader and it's a nice treat especially for me to get him back"

QH43 - "100% its workable" "Both have had their outside struggles" "I believe in both of them... great people great players"

Braden Schneider Stats, Profile, Bio, Analysis and More | New York Rangers | Sports Forecaster van needs hhim badly but rangers wont give him up that easily.

the rangers will continue to nickel and dime people and continue to suck because of their absolute refusal to make fair trades. i'll actually be kinda mad if we don't get one of miller, schneider, or laf back in a deal with NYR. i guess othmann and an unprotected 1st is fine too.

alvin hangs up the phone easily. then we have no deal with the rangers end of story. dont want any of their other prospects in hartford. findd another team.

KAM hasn't been good for a couple seasons now. Has awesome physical tools but IQ is questionable and has yet to put it all together, could just be another Myers type.

Lohrei, although a different type of player, is in the same boat in terms of good tools and potential but with long-term question marks.

Stankoven would be the best fit for probably both teams age wise because right now from a Dallas perspective Miller would be a huge upgrade on him, but he's not too far away from being a legit top-6 contributor.

Bourque is a similar young player whose on a strong development path, first year in the NHL this season as a depth player after being PPG+ in the AHL last season. RH center with average size.

Bischel is their other main prospect of note who is a massive defensive LD, however that is not a positional need for us considering the D prospects we already have.
Thanks for the info Bourque & Bischel could be decent options especially since the Vancouver Canucks would need a centre in a deal.

Unfortunately it sounded like it would be eastern us according to Friedman on DnD

How good is Schneider supposed to be? IMO Rangers made a huge mistake not giving him up for JT a few years ago. They were legitimate contenders that lost twice in the GM7 of the ECF. Someone like JT could have really put them over the top.

I think he more or less is what he is at this point - he's played 252 games, can fill in for top-4 minutes but treats the puck like it's a bomb when it's on his stick (Will fit right in with our bottom 4).

Not sure what they see with him, I don't think there's much untapped potential there and think of him kind of like Soucy.

If they can figure out the protection issue on the Rangers 1st round pick, I'd much prefer to get Filip Chytil or K'Andre Miller over Braden Schneider, and then flip that 1st round pick for say Bowen Byram (or check in with the Sabres to see if they'd be down to move Byram even with the protection on the Rangers pick)
