Finnish D just cannot handle the pressure once they get caught in their own end. Lindell especially had a terrible period. Finns did do better once they get out of their own zone but most of the time Canada was fairly comfortably turning away their attacks.

Canada was dominating and created a lot of chances on good plays and turnovers by the Finns in their own zone. The penalties were unnecessary and gave the Finns a chance to score.

Laine I thought played well. He is still giving the puck away but he was dangerous and he is clearly engaged and comfortable being targeted. Jets fans should be happy.

He's looking fine. The same people ripping on him for not scoring on his chances are the same people who said he wouldn't get any chances because Canada would shut him down.

This whole Matthews/Laine crap has made a lot of people bitter on both sides. Neither of them can sneeze without someone judging their form. "Not enough follow through!"

I feel like Jets fans want both:laugh:

Laine should hold the puck on the board on that play. Too soft to make blind pass there

I'm not acting I'm just reading overall voice here HFboard and media its bit debasing about Laine. I'm totally fine with that 'sound' how NA fans and media respond to Europeans prospects, but somethimes its bit quite funny how they downgrade them and everything goes over the board good example is this TSN media guy meltdown about when Laine didn't give him interview.

I love Laine. I think he is the best prospect in this draft but some of your fellow Finns are making him out as if he is the best player in the world. So yeah don't complain when there is some push back.

Marchmand's penalty was so dumb, why does he think he can get away with taking another players helmet off?

Unfortunately for me the german tv broadcasts the Sweden-Russia game I only could see some seconds of the last PP of the Finns at the end of the first period.

I highly doubt anyone who watches hockey would say that.
But I hate seeing those comments even if they are made as a joke.

I never said Marchand wasn't an idiot, just that it was a soft penalty.:D

Taking off an opponent's helmet deliberately is an automatic penalty in international hockey because players are obligated to head to the bench if they lose their helmets.

So it wasn't a soft penalty.

Disagree with the rule if you want, but it was followed to the letter.

He's been very visible at times, which I think is what you'd hope for as a Laine fan, similar to how Matthews was vs the US.
