I don't have a dog in this fight but this looks like a trade where both teams lose.
The Rangers traded two players they wouldn't have on the team next year plus a C-level prospect they may not have even signed, plus a little over $2M, for a second and a fourth. If the deal was literally just $2M for a 2 and a 4, I'd be happy with that as a Rangers fan as the cap space is meaningless right now and we need to replenish our picks.

If Parissinen became something that would just be a bonus.

Colorado dealt a 3rd for him
Hes a bonus for sure but it could pay off

Absolutely. I'm just framing it as, the Rangers got two picks for a relatively small amount of money. That itself is a win (as they other guy said both teams lost here). There are other ways this could work out well for NYR but just the picks part is a good deal.

Acquiring CdH and Parsinnen is subtraction by addition.

But the Rags got cap space and two draft picks so they're the big winner.
CDH and Parsinnen combined earn less than Vesey. Even if neither player sees the ice once, this trade still favors the Rangers. Cap savings + avoiding giving Lindgren and extension + the picks tilts this in the Rangers direction.

No matter what Lindgren’s analytics say, there are always going to be NHL GMs out there who put value on D who play a gritty game and give 100% every shift.

He stopped being a decent partner for a top defensemen after all the injuries, but the Rangers have never really given him a serious look in a lesser role the last couple of years. It’ll be really interesting to see how he does in better suited minutes.

Yes. That's why everyone, including the post you quoted, is saying the Rangers are the big winner.
