Team USA played as if they were hungover. Probably utilized their day off to party. Matthews was the only American worth a damn today.
 
Team USA if they beat Slovakia will be in a better situation than if they won. Rather play the Czech Republic in the quarters than Russia
 
Am I the only one that thought the US outplayed Germany?

**** happens, it's happened to many teams not just in international games.


Two big upsets Germany and Denmark both win.
 
Germany played well against Canada and only lost 5:2 . They also rolled the Slovaks 5:1 . So that German team is not terrible . Sure they also had a stinker against France ( a game they dominated the play but made many mistakes ) but the team the US send isn't that great . It looked very beatable from what i saw so far even by a "lesser hockey nation" .

Not really. Condon's not going to steal this team a game, and his stat line will look awful today, but they lost because the team (sans Matthews) never showed up. They should have blown the game open when Germany started their parade to the penalty box but the PP was awful.
 
Greiss is a pretty good goalie, so only scoring 2 goals when you don't have a lot of goal scorers is understandable, but Condon dropped the ball. His positioning in net is very bad. He let in weak wristers from the point cause he was not in correct position. Demko should have been given his shot already. Kinkaid and Condon will lose you games

Since it's a NHL hosted event they are mandated to attend that one. A guy like Eichel declined to attend because of it. In any case I am not even sure whether guys would have attended even if there was no WC but it certainly did not help.

Germany deserved to win. I wasn't feeling confident going into the OT because of the way the US were playing. Larkin, Foligno and Nelson were lack luster and the German defense kept them that way.

Very important win for us, hope we can make it to the quarters now. This team is better than most of the teams we had for the wc, Kahun looks really good. I thought he would get drafted 1 or 2 years ago and was somewhat sad afterwards.
I'm in love with the draft this year though. Laine could be a 1st overall pick in a lot of drafts but the 2 way game of Matthews is just so good. I was really impressed with that. I think playing against men was really good for him.
