number of shot is a silly NA stat. Czech Republic with Hasek used to get outshout, NJD used to get outshot...stupid stat, really.

Yeah but we still outplayed you badly that game..

But my answer was really to his we are boring and you dont score on your chances,

All Sweden needs to do is just keep giving away the puck in their own zone and they're bound to get punished for it. The Russians need to turn up the heat to the full 100% and they need to be very aggressive when defending in their own zone. The Swedes are very good at battling along the boards - they're generally bigger than the Russians. Very interesting match.

Yeah like the final 2012 where we outshot you 50-12 or something like that.
Russia out-shot you in the Semi Final last year though :sarcasm: Sweden deserved to win in 2012 though. Best junior teams in the last 6 or so years, not even close. Should have had more than 1 gold to show for it.

I'm just happy I am awake at 1-48am (Because the game is pretty good) and I'm done with work for the year. Can enjoy my New Year Holidays in Moscow watching Hockey. Nothing beats that (Except football ;) )

This usually results in a lot of penalties for Russia (Generally deserved).

Nylander's first 3 steps outclass everyone else in this tournament. MacKinnon like acceleration. So explosive!

He definitely has elite acceleration, but his top speed isn't quite at the level of MacKinnon's. It's still great though and he'll never have to worry about speed, but MacKinnon is just something else.

that was on a back-to-back night as well? intersting schedule this year, Sweden gets to play 2 out of 3 games on back to back nights for their opponents.

True, but the Swedes seem to ge berserk when they're in the Russian zone - they have to be stopped. This fighting along the boards can also tire out the Russian players. They need to use their finesse to balance out the Swedish power - even though with players like Nylander, there's plenty of finesse and skill in the Swedish team.

This is true too. General occurrence for Russia and the USSR. Although Junior teams get out-shot badly in some games

I posted in the Switzerland thread that in 2011 when Russia won gold they were out-shot in 6/7 games, in 2012 when they finished second they were out-shot in 6/7 games, In 2013 when they grabbed the Bronze medal they were out-shot in 6/7 games. 2014 was the only outlier, they out-shot their opponents in 5/7 games to win Bronze, Sweden x2 and the Canadians included.
