"Forward Ilya Kovalchuk will be unable to participate in the World Championship in Denmark," the RIHF said in a statement for TASS. "This was a mutual decision of the ice hockey player and the coaching staff of the national team in regard to a very intensive participation of the player in the KHL tournament and the (2018) Olympic Games."Is Kovalchuk injured? Its extremely out of character for Russians to not represent their country.
Ah, thank you."Forward Ilya Kovalchuk will be unable to participate in the World Championship in Denmark," the RIHF said in a statement for TASS. That might be the first time I've ever heard anyone describing a Swedish national team as being wrestlers. This game is looking like the one in 2012, or better yet like an 80's football game Brazil - England, magicians vs. wrestlers... Sweden being the latter.
It's because they only play like this against the Russians, trying to taunt them and to trigger their temper into getting unbalanced. It has proven to be an effective way to make Russia take dumb penalties etc. It is somewhat different from what Canada does, they are just though to everyone, but Sweden usually tries this on Russias star players. That might be the first time I've ever heard anyone describing a Swedish national team as being wrestlers.
I gotta go out so I can't watch the rest of the game, but I predict a 3-2 win for Sweden.......
providing they stop taking dumb penalties.
