The other group has been so up and down that I don't even know if it matters who wins our group, as we have no idea what kind of teams we'll face. Still, always a big deal to play Russia.

If Canada ends up second in group B and Finland ends up fourth, that would mean that the winner of group A would have to beat Finland in the QF and the winner of Canada vs. Czech Republic in the semis. The team finishing second in group A would get Denmark in the QF and USA, Switzerland, Slovakia or France in the semis. If Finland loses to USA tomorrow and Denmark takes an early lead against Latvia, it might very well be the case that neither team really wants to win the Russia vs. Sweden game. Swedes might want to do what they did in their final group game in Turin 2006.

Why would the team finishing 2nd face Denmark? And on what planet is France going to play in the semis?

Make no sense, why Sweden doesn't want to play the worst team either the Danes or Finns?

Because the highest team in the standings isn't always the best.
They both would prefer to play against Denmark rather than Finland. Even if Denmark finishes 3rd and Fin 4th.

Could anybody tell what time will be the Quarterfinals (17.05)?
A1-B4
A2-B3
Can't figure out at IIHF web site. 16:15 or 20:15. And if Danes make the playoff?

Looks like group winners will play in primetime at 20:15
A1-B4, B1-A4. Hosts also play in primetime and Denmark can be only B4, So A2 will play at 16:15

Right?

Will Ekholm be playing today?
Yes, Ekholm & Forsberg will play today, the lineup(not sure about wing sides):

Janmark-Ziba-Rakell
Forsberg-Kempe-Arvi
Nyquist-Backlund-Hörnqvist
4th is TBA

OEL-Larsson
Lindholm-Klingberg
Ekholm-Wikstrand

Nilsson
Hellberg

this game is very important right now because the winner play versus denmark and the loser will play against canada.

Nah, we'll just bulldoze Russia and all other teams. Come whatever may! :D

Btw, Russia has won 10 out of 11 last WHC games vs Sweden. And that 11th game was a draw 3-3.

We (Sweden) has a realy hard time figuring out how to win agains Russia. Some times they have dominated the game and still lost almost every time. Seems like Swedens system suits Russia realy well or something. Finland has a lot easier against Russia. Maby Sweden should copy their system for this game... Because a dont think its a matter of talent.

Going by history Russia should win. So if Sweden wins thats a huge bonus. And then we need to slay the other dragon.. Canada. Dont like the odds in this WHC right now.

Win or lose doesn't really matter to me. Just want Tre Kronor to face Denmark in the QF. That game would be a lot of fun. Gonna be a crazy atmosphere in the arena.
