One can only hope Team Sweden will be as overconfident as you are regarding Latvia.

I hope no Swede is overconfident against any oponent since Belarus... That would just be stupid. Objectiv you can look at the players name on paper and say we should win. But when the game starts these names need to perform, and sometimes they dont , at all. I have great respect for Latvia and other hockeyloving countries who compete at WHC.

Weakest (on paper) team Russia in a decade against a solid Swedish team, going to be hard.

But this is an extremely important game - not too fond of playing Canada in quarters

Love that Russia got a Swedish assistant coach who whenever players are asked about him they get cryptic, and whenever he is asked about what he does he answers "I like hockey." lol

Excited to see if we can roll three strong scoring lines tonight, I think this is the strongest winger depth we've had in a World Championship.

Just like the game FIN-USA this will be the one that decides who will win the group and have an easier way to the semis. Denmark is going to be waiting with its' mouth wide open for the winner of this one.

Or Latvia but im betting on Denmark.

IT'S TIME FOR STATISTICS! Russia has 12-1-1 vs Sweden since 2005(!)

Russia has been a monster for team Sweden over the new millennium, in particular since 2005 Russia has been housing Sweden around in the main big tournaments but once. Here are the stats over their previous games and the number of points they managed to receive during the regular game round:

2007 (IIHF WC): Sweden 2-4 Russia
2007 (IIHF WC): Sweden 1-3 Russia
Points: 12-15

2008 (IIHF WC): Sweden 2-3 Russia
points: 9-13

2009 (IIHF WC): Sweden 5-6 Russia

2011 (IIHF WC): didn´t meet
points: 10-7

2012 (IIHF WC): Sweden 3-7 Russia
Points: 18-21

2013 (IIHF WC): didn´t meet

Sweden sent some terrible teams during this time span with barely any quality NHL players. Especially pre-2012.

f*** SAKE that’s so unbelievably f***ing stupid.

lol Swedes aren't being very disciplined. They better fix that or it's going to cost them.

I think if Sweden plays disciplined they will take this game if they don't get too far down on the score sheet. But if they keep taking dumb penalties like that it's gonna be a long game for them.
