GDT: Group A - May 13 - USA vs Finland (Mod warning in post 2)

I actually feel really bad for Veini. He obviously has produced some pretty interesting stats in Kärpät but i don´t know what happens when he plays for Team Finland in the bigger stages. The kid got the worst start possible, bad defending as well. Screened his own goalie.

I did not. I loved him with Karpat in the playoffs last year and honestly had a bit of a fit when the Sabres dealt out of the 6th round with him still on the board. I want him to do well -- I'm tired of the "gotta be big" conversation about goalies. Just give me a guy who can stop pucks.

Because its 100% on him. Thats just unaccetable. We dont need to give him chance to fix it, he is not rinne or so. He had hes change and blew it.

The antipathy towards success in FEL and Vehviläinen is laughable. What Veini has done this and last season is pretty remarkable in Finnish standards and lets not act like we have the superior team in any way.
Too bad he let those 2 in but he just saved a Patrick Kane attempt on a 2v1.

The funniest thing i've witnessed in the discussion of Vehviläinen is that people act like he hasn't advanced in his development at all in 3 years. He's simply so much better than he ever was in JYP.

Anttila the Hun is always a stand out in literal terms but can he handle the pace of these games? Anyways, the dude should go to Hollywood and try cinema. Sadly the game of thrones has reached its last season.
 
Finland has not even played that badly. It´s mostly Veinis fault, especially the second one. Kakko and Anttila are giving their all. I hope Luostarinen and Jokiharju can score a goal for us. We need to get someone else to produce as well.

I honestly can't remember any specific tournaments or other national games, but there have been several times when he should've changed goalies sooner or used time-outs (and not just to settle things down, but to keep specific players on ice at crucial moments).
