GDT: Group A - May 13 - USA vs Finland (Mod warning in post 2)

Yea he tends to create chances out of nothing so he's hard to predict. Still easier for a team to shutdown one player/line than if Finland would've had more stars on the team.

My guess is Kakko is a disappointment in this game. Hughes scores in five different ways and USA wins 5-1. Kakko with the lone goal for Finland to start the game.

Well, that's what we are - I guess we have an especially strong fear of jinxing things. And/or are especially pessimistic and miserable buggers... My money is on the latter option. :) I try always to be cautiously optimistic which is very reasonable in hockey as we always do have some kind of chance of beating any opponent. Including, very eminently, today, as clear favourites as the Americans are.

I feel like a kid on christmas eve getting to watch Kakko play hockey again.

Part of me hopes he would cool down a bit just to make sure the Devils don't get any funny ideas.
 
If USA have their hearts in this game they should win, but if they don't Finland will take this. This finnish has literally no talent beyond Kakko but you just know they will have their hearts in every game in this tournament.

How the hell isn't Demko in net for USA in this game? Schneider sucks.

I don't think this team has no talent, I know their biggest stars aren't here but to say there is no talent beyond Kakko isn't really accurate if you watch them play, these guys are good hockey players.

But it is obvious why Kakko will be the best NHL player out of all of them.

That's why i said literally ;) There are some other talented players on the roster such as Jokiharju, Kaski, Loustarinen etc but overall this is a bunch of mediocre players who are overachieving as a team. As individuals most of them aren't good enough.

Well, that was not the start Veini needed. Damn, so good in Kärpät and... If he has a bad day today he will be doomed in the media and in the nationals.
