Very good game by the Fins. Played extremely well as a team and a nearly perfect defensive game. Kakko showing why the number 1 pick isn't certain.
I still don’t think there’s anything Kakko can realistically do to go 1st. I mean John Hynes (HC of Devils) is working with Hughes right now on the USA team and Hughes has past connections to Hall and Shero. Also, since Hughes is the consensus 1st overall, imagine the outcry if the Devils passed on Hughes and Hughes ended up becoming a better player for their biggest rival. No chance Shero passes on Hughes imo unless Hynes sees something off about Hughes character or something. I know they did it in 2017 but this is a bit different

Didn't get to watch the game, but good job! I really liked how the team played against Russia, if we were going to beat Canada, it was going to be early in the tournament when they are still finding their chemistry.

Hughes goes 0+0, USA takes the silver, Kakko scores 15 points, Finland takes the gold?.

Well played by the Finns. Seems someone needs to sandblast the stink off of everything Botterill touches.

Embarrassing Canada very embarrassing.
With that roster Canada should have been able to beat Finland very easily but i'll take this win.

Hopefully we ( Finland) don't face Canada anymore in this tournament because that game will be a murder.
Canada is still gold medal favorite and one lose vs EHT level Finland doesn't change that fact.

USA, Russia and Sweden are all easily better on paper than Canada. No way Canada is a favourite here.

Two bad teams that won't have anything to say about the medals.

Considering that Finland has exactly zero NHL players on the team, and is also missing quite a few of the best players from other leagues, yes it is a bad team.

Sweden, on the other hand, better not just win games but beat everybody else to the ground by 7-0 type of scores, given the dream team that it is...

Winning is enough. Finns should know that by now. ;)
Give AV Team Canada and they still get outshot lol
He has quickly found a new favourite on the team as well: Severson. LOL! Canadian fans, expect to see him on the ice alot.

If Hughes was Finnish and be same player with same skills as Hughes is, there would be a chance.

I do think that there's still s small chance Kakko could go #1 but it would require:
1. That Hughes doesn't seem ready to play vs non juniors.
2. Kakko to perform like he did against Canada against the rest of the teams as well. There can't be any mediocre games by Kakko as Jack Hughes was quite impressive in that U18 tournament.

I'm pretty sure that Kakko would still be taken as #2. Everyone knows that when there are two elite prospects from europe and NA on a similar level (or even if european one is slightly better, but basically same level talent) NA guy is pretty certain #1 pick.

And now i'm talking about the guys which you are picking top-2, even though your team would need a defenseman instead of a forward, like Matthews/Laine/Eichel tier talent.

And due pretty obvious reasons of course, local poster boy vs guy from across the pond. Which one is easier to market. Hockey is a business, so can't complain. Only thing what matters is that both of the guys will be playing in the NHL.

Many of Canada's top players took advantage of playing in the Programme of Excellence or other National teams up till the under 20 team. Money earned at this tourney helps pay for these programmes. Kind of short sighted if you ask me.

Even though I've probably nobody to say Kakko should go first, might be the reason why he's going to be nro 1. It's pretty obvious who the top 2 are. I don't even flash my homer card for Kakko. I mean, happens I'm sure the two have a pretty solid spot as 1a and 1b. It's just what the team prefers. I think both are mature enough to just want to be their best versions in the future. And I think there's no doubt, but will flourish in their way. If it right away or 4 years from now.

For me it's really not the number, it's the becoming product for years to come. Hope no injuries. One thing I will say is that this shouldn't be a such a big issue since I really hate when number 1 and 2 are suddenly like arch enemies (preview draft also)? They both are brilliant. I don't know which one is best before but time will tell. Just annoyes me in someways. Looking forward to seeing them grow in to their roles which ever team it may be.

TD;DR: They are both very good and a team is happy, which ever it is, to have one of them.

I only saw the first half, but may watch the rest later. Good job by Finland, and several things for Canada to improve on.

I phrased that wrong. It looks like NJ is almost certain to pick Hughes, but I think for the rankings overall meaning not a mock draft Kakko and Hughes could be flip flopped either way
