Scrivens looked like he has never been in a shootout before. What was with the paddle down stuff and his constant twitching? Czech goalie was just calm and let the player make the first move.

They both got beat twice.

One time our guy hit the post.

Nhl player involved olympic hockey is the best thing I ever witnessed. I pretty much cried in 2010. But this is just some rene bourque led cdn team with a bunch of guys no one knows. Makes me sad.

The best, most exciting hockey game I have ever seen is still the preliminary Latvia-Slovakia game in 2002 Olympics that finished in 6-6 tie. Few NHL players on each team but just literally the most exciting game I have ever seen.

We’ve won shootouts before.

Toews at the WJCs for example.

Sure we've won them before but God, it's been so long now.

I mean you are citing Toews as an example, that ages ago.

Can you imagine battling russia all game long in the gold medal game, it's 3-3 after overtime and we have to go to a shootout, how confident would you be?

I wouldn't lay a nickel on us winning that.

Well that was always going to be a problem with the skill level of this team.

Just have to win the big games in regulation or OT.

Its pretty crazy to think how time flies because there were names on Canada- Derek Roy, Mason Raymond- that I recall were key contributors the last time Buffalo and Vancouver, respectively, were serious threats for the Stanley Cup.

In just 8 years, we went from Team USA's Olympic MVP being a Sabre- Ryan Miller- to one of the more notable Team Canada players being a guy that's not in the NHL and once played with Miller on those back-to-back Eastern Finalist Briere/Drury teams.

Hell, I remember Wojtek Wolski once played on a Colorado team that had Marek Svatos and Jose Theodore.

We've gone from a 2014 Canada team featuring Matt Duchesne to a 2018 Canada team with a guy that once played alongside Matt Duchesne.

May I ask what about 2010 would have brought you to tears?

What a start of the day. We beat Canada and Ledecká won Gold. Now take Switzerland seriously and way to quarterfinal is free.

One guy had to face Wolski who is pretty much a shootout specialist.

Scrivens looked very awkward and frantic during the shootout and the Czech guy was calm and composed.

Had some good chances, just couldn't bury them. That Noreau shot in the shootout was a kick in the teeth. Highlight reel goal if it went in. Crush Korea and go from there. I think this team will get better as they progress.

only saw the 1st. period...couldn't stay with it...not that I didn't want to, had other obligations. can't say that the level of play was all that great, but whatever...no biggie. If they make the GMG I'll tune in.

He doesn't get what? It wasn't an upset.

Contrary to some of you the Olympics - playing for blood, country - is far more important than some Stanley Cup ring or $100,000,000.00 contract.

It's pretty simple. It's not hard to understand.

But I do think it's cultural (and to lesser extent generational - a lot of posters here are young and just expect that Olympics was always NHLers...or something). Canada has won how many Gold Medals? You guys probably don't care nearly as much as a country with 9 million like Sweden or Czech or Slovakia.

international hockey is so stupid with going to a gimmick in such important games.

now we get a shutup to finish what was a great game.

the black SWEATERS are awesome!!!!

These shootouts have given us amazing international hockey history. Such as Forsberg's great move in 1994, and Julie "The Cat" Gaffney's save against Iceland.
