This has probably been Marner's best game of the tournament so far, so I don't see how he's been bad. He's done a much better job of making safer plays and retaining the puck than in previous games. The problem is all that possession has been on the perimeter, and that isn't just on him. Hopefully he builds on this though and in his next game continues to make safe plays while also getting to the inside more.

Edit: Like he just did and scored a goal.

He's literally produced at least one great scoring chance per period throughout the tournament.

Best game... hardly.

Embarrassing that the 19 year old forwards that were brought in for goals, Point Virtanen and Perlini have a combined 1 goal in 4 games, and guess what, that goal game in a shootout

We need to ease up on JV and Point. Playing for our country while injured is commendable.

I trust they will step it up in elimination games.

Typical of series - Marner behind net with Strome (?) right in slot open. Rather than pass, Marner skates out and shoots himself. With 45 seconds left.

This is why we are losing so consistently.

He was overpassing earlier in the game, which is it with you guys?

The POTG for Canada wasn't on the ice when they needed to get a quick one to make it a one goal game...ugh...this coaching staff...

No worries Canadians, when you kicked out Finland you will meet Sweden again.

Better luck next time :sarcasm: (Sweden was lucky to won this game, right) :sarcasm:

No hockey sense at all. Nothings gonna change.

you can teach them how to read the game better in the AHL though. Hockeys a game of patterns. Unfortunately he's got some bad ones right now but I think a couple years of the AHL he'll be a dustin brown.

So nobody commented about that brainless shot by Marner!? Lol

Most people realize the difference between one desperation play with less than a minute left, and having the same play be the standard move in most situations.

Marner hasn't had a good tournament, but the people saying he's been trash this game clearly has an agenda.

Very disappointing effort from a very disorganized group. Not very much chemistry and the players that Canada hoped would be leading them have been average at best.
