I wouldn't mind the kings picking him up, slower guys don't seem to struggle as much in our system.

What are Brady Skjei and Slater Koekkoek worth?

How is this relevant?

You can't be saying these are comparables, can you? Both players are expected to make their NHL teams this season and should realistically develop into top 4 guys in the not so distant future. Reinhart can maybe make himself into a defense only #5

They're the same age, same draft, same round, same size(ish), same handedness. All of them are at the same point in their careers. And none of them have done anything. Tell me why Reinhart's the one whose future is a certainty.

Brandon Davidson, who's a better player than all three of them currently didn't become a full-time NHLer until he was 24 years old. Not one poster on here could have told you he'd be a future 20 minute-a-night defenseman when he was 22. Defensemen take time to develop.

So the answer to OP is who the **** cares, they're not trading him.

Do you actually believe Reinhart = Koekkoek = Skjei or are you just trying to show that you think they won't trade him? Cause that's a pretty indefensible stance.

Tell me why they aren't.

What has Brady Skjei achieved in his brief pro career that would make him a bonafide top 4 prospect while Griffin Reinhart is only 'maybe a bottom pair guy'? Or what about Koekkoek? Anything?

The only thing Reinhart has is a high profile trade tied to him in a major hockey market. I'm not convinced either one of these guys is a full stride in front of the other currently.(Yeah...haha....I get it....a foot-speed joke)

I think the oilers would take a 3rd rd pick in a heartbeat... a conditional 4th that could turn into a 3rd with games played is more reasonable

Welp, for one, he's going to make it on a team that has a much better defense than yours. While Reinhart doesn't even look like he might ever make the NHL. Just saying.

Also, I hate you for making me praise the Rangers.

That being said, I thought it was mighty suspicious when Boychuk's brother tweeted "Thank god!" (paraphrasing) when the Reinhart trade was announced.

I love all of these Islander and even a Columbus and Senator poster coming in here all cocky and bashing (not discussing) draft picks. Talk about hypocritical.

Anyways... I think Chiarelli screwed up here. To trade 16 & 33 in what was said to be a deep draft, with some very good players surprisingly available at 16 (thanks to some off the board earlier picks) you should have been able to get a D prospect who was trending up not down or at least one with a more balanced skill set. I wouldn't doubt MacT and Lowe had a lot to do with that trade as they were high on Reinhart (watching him play with the Oil Kings) and Chiarelli was very new to the organization, but I am not going to make excuses... Chiarelli was the GM and he decided to make that move - if he was not comfortable with it he should not have made the trade. I was not a fan of the trade then and even less so a year later.

Reinhart, IMO, is not worth more than a 3rd rounder at this point. His ceiling is a 3rd pairing D.

Skjei did play with rangers last year and looked good. Great skater and a solid play. He prover he belongs in NHL, Reinharts bad skating is his biggest weaknes...

What is his value today?

You cannot possibly expect the Oilers to move Reinhart at this point.
Not only would they be selling extremely low, but they"d have to deal with the backlash of a bad trade.

Better to look at him as a longterm project. Let their ahl coaches work with him , over the next 1-2 seasons.

I like to bash the oil as much as the next guy, this is silly. While granted, Reinhart might not have a future as a #1 guy, he has enough tools in the toolbox (with the right coaching) to be a very serviceable defenceman. He's still very young and defenceman of his ilk take time to develop a consistent game. If he's given the right coaching, not rushed, and played towards the strengths in his game he should at the very least be a solid 2nd pairing option in the future. The oil would be silly to trade him and need to practice somthing they haven't done in a generation....patience.
