Great photos in hockey history you've just seen for the first time (Part III)

There have been some great pictures in these threads, but a lot of them are just ordinary pictures, nothing special. For instance (not picking on the poster) that picture of Stevens and Langway. Big deal, it’s two players on the bench.

The second part of the title is “that you’ve seen for the first time”. I assume most people ignore the “great” part, because most great pictures we’ve already seen.

I have seen a lot of great photos that I never say before in these threads.

The title is one sentence, not two separate sentences and shouldn’t be treated as this.

Roy looks like he's wearing a jersey that uses what was then the Penguins template. Just a different logo and such. Plus look at his equipment! Absolutely tiny...really he just looks like a regular skater just with leg pads and a helmet cage.

A photo of the Kenora Thistles on their 10-game tour of Japan in 1954 you'll notice the goaltender for Japan is wearing something very close to a mask which wouldn't have been invented until 1959 by Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadiens.

I've just received some this on the goalie mask invention by Eugene Long from Clinton, NY who apparently in 1958-59 made one at Hamilton College then wrote in a letter to Jacques Plante about it.
