If you ever have the time, I would suggest visiting the team boards of other "top teams". Because it's not that much better over there usually. The NHL has been numbed down to mediocrity, and whether you like it or not, the Rangers are one of the top teams on that pile of mediocrity. So even the top teams look like trash from time to time over an 82 game schedule. That's what the NHL is.

I'm not saying there is nothing to worry about, there is. But we have time to fix things.

To be fair, we said the same thing last season, and....

The difference is the rangers have a better record than those two teams combined in the last 4 years.

Because of goaltending. Sick of it ALWAYS being because of goaltending. Even last year, a better team than this one despite having worse personnel, when Shesty was going through his crisis Quick was a wall.

Things are trending the wrong way since the return of 55.

There’s more to it than that but it’s not a coincidence.
Saying there are things that concern you: reasonable.
Saying there are troubling trends that you’d like reversed: reasonable.

Saying this 8-2-1 team is trash, deserves to lose every game, are nothing outside of Igor, are unwatchable: ridiculous take.

I have absolutely no enthusiasm anymore after wins because this a bad hockey team relying on an unsustainable all time great performance by their goalie. Trash team and I don't care that they won. I'd rather have lost the last three but gotten bad luck. Instead we're seeing the worst defense we've seen since the dark ages. There is nothing positive to take out of these performances. They're every bit as bad as the Giants and Jets minus one player.

If the ever win a cup I can’t wait to hear how they did it wrong from @SnowblindNYR

On 5 on 5 against an AHL team. This is f***ing pathetic. Embarrassing. Disgusting.

And we lost to the eventual champions in the ECF. That's better than a lot of the other contenders, don't you think?

Look, like I said, I'm not here to try and say it's all roses. There are issues with the team. But not like anyone else is without them. We have time to fix those issues, it's a long season. And right now it's important to grab points.

Can someone tell me more about this Jimmy Vesey they're interviewing in the post game? Looks so young. Rookie? Undrafted?

I'm the first person to say if you don't win you're not necessarily a failure. But this team's ceiling is not cup. We brought the same group back that is horrendous (for a top team) 5 on 5. Thanks Mrs. Trouba. Also, we hacked our D pairs but our bum ass coach loves his plugs. This team has been trash in every facet of the game since Lindgren came back. Let's play him on the top pair. Lavi can't help himself. Dinosaur coach. Wish we went with a young guy that has a f***ing clue not this bum.

I have been watching hockey on TV for over 60 years and broadcast games for several years on radio. The NHL Network broadcast of todays game was one of the worst presentations of a televised game that I have ever seen. I have no idea who the PXP announcer was but he sounded like some teenager who got a free ticket to the game. Mike Johnson, who is a decent studio analyst, must have been shaking his head. “Showcase” broadcasts like these are an embarrassment to the league. If they are in the NHL studios in New Jersey, at least give them taxi fare and let them go to The Garden.

This was literally something said during the broadcast. I am not exaggerating.

PXP: Arm is up. Looks like we have another penalty.
Color: No, no, it’s just icing.

He did not understand the difference between the linesman and the referee. It’s like they went into a NYC sports bar at noon and asked, “Who’s drinking? You want to call a hockey game?”

It is score effects. The 5v5 xG was basically dead even up until the time Panarin scored the PPG to give them a 2 goal lead. They have it at 1.36 Rangers to 1.31 Islanders at that point in the game.

1) Even against this roster is not nearly good enough.

2) Why did those score effects never happen against the Caps when we were within reach all game?

It's not so much that we lost to them but how we lost to them.

Zibs and Panarin were a non-factor and our D was a mess.

Our D is currently a mess. And Zibs it at the point of his life that he probably sheds a tear whenever he walks by the dairy section with products that have real dairy.

That's horrible that they didn't ask the bartender

I thought Sorokin kept the Islanders in it as much as he could. The teams weren’t close.

Every time Chytil has the puck going into the offensive zone you just know he’s going to do something exciting. He and Kakko are just so so good together too.

I love Edstroms game, and love that he got that goal. I remember watching him last year up close. He’s huge and has some serious wheels on him.

Also the defense was better with Jones. Who could’ve seen that coming except everyone? Enough with the caveman hockey. He’s exactly what the defense was lacking.
