Of course it's Iggy. Click on it and look at his eyes, cheeks and nose. He didn't always have a shaved head, you know.

Speaking of surprises, I just came across Iginlas Goal Ave, a street named after him by a hockey fan in the Vegas city planning dep't.

we can probably do without the sarcasm. like i said in an earlier post i may be wrong but i would feel confident in saying that the huge majority of people would agree with me.
I added a silly emoji to show the playful intention my post had. Unfortunately the first one, the one you quoted, didn’t look that way because new hfboards doesn’t accept iPhone emoji.

I didn't realize Glenn Hall played maskless in St. Louis. Along with fellow legend Jacques Plante, second season.

^^^ Ya, Hall had briefly used a Lefty Wilson mask however he didnt like it much and when Seth Martin was signed and who made masks himself (as mentioned earlier, supplying a couple to the Russians & Czechs in the early 60's) he did one up for Glenn.... which is the one you remember as featured in the photograph above.

Interesting fact. When Gordie Howe signed on to join sons Marty and Mark with the Houston Aeros, the jerseys used in the publicity photos (such as that at the top) were the style worn in Houston's inaugural WHA season. The Howe's would actually never wear those jerseys in league play as the Aeros changed their jerseys for the start of the 1973-74 season (as shown in the picture above of Mark Howe).

Above is a comparison of the Aeros home and away jerseys from the inaugural season in 1972-73 and the new look for 1973-74. Notice how the original Houston Aeros jerseys were similar to the Philadelphia Flyers with the arm band running down the sleeve being narrow at the top and widening at the bottom.

^^^ That Maurice Richard Contract is something else.... He got a 1X 1000 $ Bonus for signing & then performance bonuses if he hit certain plateaus, many of which he did hit & surpass but whats mindblowing is that if he'd ever gotten demoted to whatever minor-league he'd have wound up making $750 a season. Now, obviously there was a War going on & both the US & Canada still crippled, on their knee's following the Great Depression with the War itself kick-starting the economy, the Canadiens in dire straights at that time but even so.... $750 a year seems like an awfully penurious wage to be paying at the minor-pro level, less than 1/5th of what he'd make in the NHL.

10yrs later and the exception to the rule of course but none the less, Jean Beliveau was making more than Richard & Howe playing for Imlach & the Quebec Aces in the semi-pro QSHL, and through the late 30's to 50's & early 60's a considerable number of players who signed as Free Agents in the old WHL & AHL etc were also making money on par with many of the NHL's star players. A Hell of a lot more than seven hundred & fifty bucks a season AND they could control their destinies somewhat. One way contracts. Those numbers in the Rockets' contract certainly jump off the page in underscoring just how much control the NHL clubs had over their players, the seeds planted by they themselves that eventually led to attempted creation of the Players Association in 57/58, its certification in 67.

They were underpaid for certain; though not living badly still. Shows how much the sports landscape has changed.

Just as a point of reference;

$5,000 in 1941 is about $85,000 today.

$70,00 in 1981 is about $195,000 today.

Good money for us working stiffs; but peanuts for professional athletes....

Just an aside; Bobby Hull's contract with Winnipeg in 1972 ($1,000,000 bonus, $1,750,000 over 10 years) would be worth just north of $16,000,000 today.

Fun story about Bobby, Tommy Ivan & his Parents when Ivan appeared on their doorstep wanting to talk to his folks about his future, asking his father "how would you feel about the Blachawks signing your son to a 6500 $ contract"?.... Hull Sr. bolting straight up from the kitchen table red faced & flustered.... "Are you crazy? I dont have 6500 $'s to pay for Bobbys' hockey". :laugh:

On January 18, 1975 the WHA Michigan Stags folded and the team was moved to Baltimore where it was named the Blades and was operated by the league for the balance of the season. The league contemplated moving the franchise to Seattle at the end of the season but the move never materialized and the franchise was terminated. The uniforms were a total departure from those of the Stags but also of note is that the Blades away jerseys as shown below bear little resemblance to the home whites in their design.

^^^ I quite liked the Michigan "Stags" nomme de guerre, the logo & colors, jerseys, uniforms. One of the best IMO that Ive ever seen. Evocative of the State, nice & simple, old school..... Also liked Baltimores away jerseys, the dark there, though the home whites, thats just bad. Lousy logo. Background color doesnt even match the shoulder trim & striping. Odd given that the MLB Orioles is by far one of the nicest pro sports uniforms out there so a pretty high standard already set for the market & these guys came out with those home abominations? :(

Original Los Angeles Kings owner Jack Kent Cooke poses in front of The 'Fabulous' Forum under construction. The expansion Kings began play in the Long Beach Arena to start the 1967-68 season and did not play their first game at The Forum until December 30, 1967 where they dropped a 2-0 decision to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Forum would remain home for the Kings until 1999.
