Nice game for Cossa tonight. 35 saves or so with one goal against. Edvinson getting better every game. Kasper and Soderblom had assists

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday reassigned right wing Jonatan Berggren to the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned defenseman Antti Tuomisto from the Griffins to the Toledo Walleye (ECHL).

Griffins starting to turn things around. Defense is playing much better and goaltending has improved as well. Finally getting some scoring to put these games away lately, Penalty kill improved the last 5 games. Power Play still need some work, but they are getting chances, just not putting them away at the moment.

I liked what I saw from him in PS. Should be a regular in GR.
For sure. They should send one of the plugs like ZAR down to Toledo and give Doucet a legit chance.

I think Ed should get a few more games in GR, then Stevie's gonna have to do something. Trade a goalie or Maatta.

Went to the game last night. First live one since opening night. The scoreboard was pretty accurate in terms of how it looked out there

- Edvinsson came as advertised. He'll be up by the new year
- It was my second pro viewing of Cossa and I was really impressed. Just a massive athlete. Outdueled Askarov
- Kasper was solid but unremarkable. He's much smaller than I expected him to look. Not seeing any stand out skills right now, he's solid everywhere
- Wallinder was noticeable in good ways. That Didier guy he's been stuck with really sucks tho. It will be a better test for Wallinder once Ed is called up and he can play more minutes
- Johansson was solid, he and Ed are real good together
- Lombardi/Soderblom were both unspectacular but impactful
- Mazur is the most polished forward besides Berggren

Having Czarnik back is huge for this team... its like watching the Wings with and without Larkin

You mean his one game? LOL.

The only player I've managed to evaluate correctly in his first NHL game was Makar. He made it very apparent that he's something special.

Yup. Just one regular season NHL game and some preseason games. He was more noticeable when playing with better talent. Watching him in those games made feel optimistic.

I heard Kasper had an injury and he might still be rehabbing/not fully 100% yet, and that's possibly why he's not getting more AHL minutes. Or at least in the AHL game I watched him.

I'm not going to worry about Kasper because Yzerman is pretty good at finding talent. I fully trust his judgement. I gave up all hope on Bertuzzi after seeing him in the AHL, and he came out pretty good -- I know Yzerman didn't select Bert, just saying I'm not afraid to admit I'm wrong about evaluating. -- But I think it'd be ignorant to think Kasper is a dud at this stage of his young hockey career.

That said, I have given up hope on Berggren. Hopefully I am proven wrong again like I was with Little Bert.

Kasper did not look good preseason. Danielson did. And I can't imagine his knee cap injury was that bad since he played his first NHL game with the injury. Now if he sustained a different injury preseason, then that would explain a lot.

Burger has the skill set, he just doesn't want to play in the NHL bad enough. He's playing like he's just waiting for his waiver eligibility to kick in next season. He's Sprong V2.0, he'll be bottom 6 and in the coach's doghouse until he decides to play defense.

Griffins suddenly down 3-1. Been heavily outshot all night so it’s probably deserved. Kasper -3.

Our defense is trash outside of Walman, Seider, and Ghost. Chiarot has been passable and the rest have been bad. Ed is part of our future core and is better than everyone but Seider. Calling him up is part of icing the best roster.
Thank god Yzerman is a stupid GM and not calling Edvinsson up. :)

I love our situation when there's too much depth. All are healthy and Kane coming. Ed waiting on the minors.

Just love this situation. Their time will come.

So has there been anything regarding Edvinsson not playing last night? Absolutely nothing on their "write up" for the game. No mention whatsoever about their best player not playing in the game...

Waiting for what exactly?

The Wings are worse without Ed in the lineup. Go ahead and love it...

We don't really need to be any better at the moment. And Edvinsson developing down there, will give us even better future Edvinsson.

Yzerman is waiting to turn one of the current LDs to some other trade piece or future asset. Before that will happen, Ed can stay down.

Apparently the flu is going around and some players were missing because of it.

We don't need to sit on four 3rd pairing D either.

We don't need Ed to perfect being an AHL defenseman. We need him to perfect being an NHL defenseman. That is not something he can do in the AHL.

I don't care about what sort of 4th or 5th round pick we can squeeze out of Maatta. We need Ed to integrate into the top 4 so the team can get better. And pointlessly waiting to improve the team is just that. Pointless.

People are so reactive. Two weeks ago we were scared the team sucks again because of a bad Sweden trip. Now we’re so good there’s no use in integrating Ed into the lineup.

Truths somewhere in the middle of winning and losing streaks. We aren’t so good that adding Ed wouldn’t help.
