Sounds like Elmer is pushing for a look. Would love to see him make the NHL, but we'll see if he can be consistent in this kind of physical play to get a look.

Yeah, let him learn how to fight against AHLers for a little longer. His reach will translate to the NHL, but NHL heavyweights are gonna throw harder and faster punches.

There's a lot to like in that fight though. Quick recognition when the opponent dropped the gloves, fast reach, and some quick punches. Being the taller player, it's advantageous for him to grab the front of the jersey, so he can push the other player away and use his reach. In this particular case, he finished the other guy so quick he didn't even have to use his reach. He did use his height advantage and pushed the other guys head down, let go, dropped the gloves, and popped the opponent good as soon as he lifted his head.

If he can win a few more fights and throw hits on a consistent basis, that will force Stevie to keep him next season. Elmer has to go through waivers next season.

be nice if his production would pick up just a bit. Doesn't have to be a PPG but he's still pacing behind last year. Really like the apparent uptick in physical play.

If the Wings can get rid of Tank and Kane I’m for it.
They can get rid of fischer/motte/veleno

Wont happen but for the hell of it lol ..

Tarasenko Larkin raymond
Debrincat cozens kane
Soderblom kasper berggren
watson copp fischer
Motte

Compher at 3.75 + rasmussen + 2026 1st top 10 protected gets moved to 2027 + 2027 3rd

Money works out since sabres are a budget team

This definetly definetly wont happen lol ...

Trade chiarot to vegas 50% and talbot for samsonov and hague ... dont think Vegas can afford hague and they get a cheap replacement for now and next season and an upgrade in nets and someone who'll be back next year

And just noticed I didnt deal any of veleno motte fischer like I proposed lmaoo ... joe can go to Vegas lol

If Elmer can fight like that every time, he's got a place in the NHL even if he puts up just 20 points.
As for his GR production, look at his linemates. Maybe time to move him up to the first or second line.

Elmer is a dangerous man out there…

Elmer has clearly made a change in his game to use his size and be more physical and the results seem promising. Sell off Kane and make room for him on the big club.

Sounds like Elmer is pushing for a look. Would love to see him make the NHL, but we'll see if he can be consistent in this kind of physical play to get a look.

If we call up soderblom we might as well call up watson at the Same time so he can continue his miyagi teachings on him and elmer can keep his mojo going
I agree with all of the quoted her on Soderblom. I have no doubt Watson and Watson have helped him realize he has two paths.

1) Go back to Sweden and play the cutesy puck play, soft ,no hitting game you brought to N. America. You can play another 10-12 years and earn 150-200,000 euros per annum.

2) Hit everything that moves and everything that doesn't, get in on the forecheck and to the front of the net. Give the puck to the puckhandlers and drive to the net. Don't become Rempe but, if called out, ANSWER. You can play another 10-12 years and earn 850-1,000,000 euros per annum.

For a man of his size, he can skate well enough for the NHL. He can also handle and move the puck well enough to stay in the NHL... as a big man on the 4th line.

Thought I would share the Youtube version of the fight.

I will also add a podcast interview. (Not sure why John Scott isn't catching on. I thought his interview with Mo was outstanding.)

You can sense Scott telling the kid if he wants something other than a cup of coffee (which he has already consumed) he needs to become a physical presence.

He has to warrant being an every day NHL player and his ticket to that is to bring some physicality. If he can do that I could also easily see him slide into a net front role on the PP too. You don't need to be a great skater to play a Homer like role, and he has the mitts to do damage in that 5 foot from the crease area. Teams just can't afford pure PP guys anymore. You need to bring something else too.

I mean could you imagine a guy like him parked in front of the net with ASP threading the puck on the PP.

Yeah Soderblom has the skill to be on the ice and not an offensive black hole, even at the offensive level. If he became a guy who even uses his size to be physical even somewhat consistently he would be making even more than that pretty quickly. Looking at a guy like Dakota Joshuas contract he just got. If you can fight even a bit, that adds even more value. Soderblom has went from a guy who could only really play in an NHL top 6 to creating a potential legit role in the bottom 6 as well. His NHL future might be shifting here.

I'll just throw this in as well.... that Labate guy he fought is a legit heavyweight thats fought for years. Hes got fights against guys like Trent Frederic, Cody McLeod way back, Reaves, toe to toe with Brendan Dillon. All legit tough guys/heavyweights. Maybe hes got potential with the gloves off to evenbe an Ericsson/Lilja level Swedish scrapper

That’s a good thing, no? Would hate to see him bounce to Europe
Just thought if he continued the way he was going + a good camp he might have a shot at the team next year ... he'll be 23 I believe?? Gotta stop making these kids wait forever

That being said since he'll miss so many games it's likely guaranteed he'll need another year down
